Though many critics loved the FX series, Terriers just couldn’t attract enough viewers to stay alive. FX has announced the TV show has been officially cancelled.
Terriers follows a pair of unorthodox and unlicensed private detectives. They’ll take just about any job, no matter how small or how strange. The show stars Donal Logue, Michael Raymond-James, Kimberly Quinn, Laura Allen, Rockmond Dunbar, and Jamie Denbo.
The series debuted to a 0.5 rating among the 18-49 demographic and 970,000 total viewers. When compared to other FX shows, that was a poor showing right from the start. The numbers went lower for subsequent episodes and the recent season finale attracted a 0.3 demo rating and 784,000 viewers.
FX President John Landgraf is expected to discuss the decision later today but ultimately the reason for the cancellation seems quite clear.
What do you think? Are you sorry that Terriers won’t be returning for a second season? Why didn’t it catch on? Was it simply a confusing title or something more?

Bull5hit man this show was so good, but to be honest they did a terrible job advertising it
Terriers they take off but The Event they leave on…really
Im kind of pissed! Loved the show! As a guy whom is a retired Cop with lots of friends I could still get some scoop from, I understand him. Hope FX chanes its mind. Really like the show. Well writen! Come Back!
why do all the good shows get cancelled and then we are stuck and have to flick threw tons off bad shows all night bad call
terriers is a great show the name is a little misleading.. i had it set to my DVR before it ever came on just because i like the actors.. then my hubby started watching it with me and completely loves it.. someone should think twice about canceling.. get some better Marketing guys and it will be great.
great show, not enough publicity…well written
Best show on TV, sorry to see it go.
LOVED LOVED THIS SHOW, NOW GONE. I’M SO DISAPPOINTED, WAS LOOKING FORWARD TO IT COMING ON AGAIN SOON. SOME OTHER CHANNEL NEED TO PICK IT UP
BIG TIME DISAPPOINTMENT REALIZING THIS SHOW IS NOT COMING BACK! I agree–who are they polling? A different title, promotion would certainly have kept this show going=I found it by accident and told everyone I knew about it–I converted every person who gave it a try–come on, someone pick this up!
I AM SO UPSET I ABSOLUTELY LOVED THAT SHOW. IT ALWAYS KEPT ME WONDERING WHATHAPPENED NEXT.
My husband and I really liked The Terriors. The casting, writing, and acting were excellent. Why didn’t anyone ask us? Seriously, how do they find out who is viewing the shows? I think the title was a problem and on FX we never can keep track of when shows are on. Plus they need to give shows more time to build a following. So sorry it is cancelled.
I’m really sad about this. Terriers was a great show with talented actors. I’m going to miss it. I think the marketing could have been better though. The name didn’t quite match the show, nor did the music.
Bad Call. This was an unusual and brilliantly acted comedy-drama. I am so disappointed. CH
Sad Terriers is cancelled. It was not confusing; rather, it was intelligent, irreverent and thoroughly addictive. This is a bad call. It is worth the investment to help it find an audience. Was it advertised well? Was it placed well in the lineup? Bone-heads at the corporate office wouldn’t know quality if it bit them.
No! That is so dissapointing! I wish I could help with the viewingnumbers, but I’m from Norway, and it dosn’t air here. Now I gotta go to make up my own fairytaleending on the last episode.. 🙁
