As promised, NBC has released the 10th and probably last episode of The Cape as an “online exclusive.”
The Cape follows Vince Faraday (David Lyons), an honest cop who finds himself framed for a series of murders and presumed dead. Fueled by a desire to reunite with his family (Jennifer Ferrin and Ryan Wynott) and to battle the criminal forces that have overtaken their city, Vince becomes “The Cape” — a vigilante and his son’s favorite comic book superhero. Others in the cast include James Frain, Keith David, Summer Glau, Dorian Missick, Martin Klebba, and Vinnie Jones.
The NBC series struggled to get good ratings and is one of the lowest-rated scripted serieson the network. Though it hasn’t been officially cancelled yet, The Cape is very unlikely to be renewed for a second season. The series’ showrunner has already moved on.
On the positive side, though the show is off the air, NBC has released the last produced episode online. It’s called “Endgame” and the network describes it this way:
THE CAPE AND VINCE FARRADAY’S WORLDS COLLIDE AND HARD TRUTHS ARE REVEALED — Police Chief Marty Voyt (Dorian Missick) lands behind bars, in the hands of ARK Corporation, fearing he may receive the same fate as Vince (David Lyons). Attempting to learn more about Vince’s disappearance, Dana (Jennifer Ferrin) takes on Marty’s case, and the impervious ARK Corporation, only to discover secrets of betrayal. The Cape’s double identity becomes blurred when Max (Keith David) and the carnival of crime attempt to protect Dana, Marty and his family.
What do you think? Does this satisfy you? Is this a good way to end the series? Why do you think The Cape didn’t catch on?

I am not satisfied at this ending. At least if you knew this show was being cancelled you could have shot and finished the story lines.. This was a good show..Too many people and reality shows get all the credit..
I really liked this show and sorry to see it go, and then to put “The Event” in it’s place? really? So who’s watching that show?
At least you can all watch the finale, the website says I’m in the wrong region to watch it. How is it supposed to rack up viewers when people outside the states can’t even watch it online and the final episode is only released ONLINE?! Really frustrated.
Well I LIKED it , I PVRed it every week and naturally I look 2 weeks ago and nothing … then last week again …nothing , I don’t know how the ratings were but for what its worth I thought it was a good show, it drives me crazy that the networks do this – start up a show mid way thru the year and then don’t let it play out until the end of the season. NBC you dropped the ball on this one but it’s TV and it’s always about the ratings , I may just boycott you… Read more »
TV is becomming more and more of a disappointment. I hope networks have people reading viewer posts. IF YOU KNOW YOU ARE ENDING A SERIES, THEN END THE SERIES. This is a joke of an ending with no issues resolved. If networks are wondering why people are not watching, maybe we dont want to commit to something that you’re going to cancel. SGU is gone (SyFy) after 2 seasons. Im done with TV. At least movies, good or bad, dont get cancelled mid-movie.
i have a 5 year old grandson who loves the cape.he’s heartbroken. you make a series about a little boys comic superhero and you put it on 9p.m.?????think it might be the wrong time slot?maybe one less reality or celeb show and add a good family show in the right time slot!!!!!
My fiance’ and I loved this show….and of course it’s been cancelled. I swear it happens everytime a good non-reality show is on the air. Moonlight was another one that was cancelled by some network moron. Some of us would like to be entertained by something other than people fighting in the jungle or cat fighting in miami, new york, etc… Anyway, we hate to see it go. Guess we will have to find something else to do on Monday evenings before Harry’s Law comes on. Let’s see how long that one lasts!
The Cape is a fantastic show! Perhaps you should bring it back on one of your other channels. It is perfect for the SyFy Viewers.
Another good show goes down in flames. I’m really disappointed that the Cape’s season abruptly ended. It was a decent show that I actually looked forward to watching each week. I agree that releasing the final episodes on DVD will have a positive response. We all want to see how it ends!
This is Firefly all over again…
Please don’t cancel The Cape, seems the best shows get cancelled, I noticed that in my area “The Event” is put in its time slot, okay isn’t there another show about aliens called “V” on ABC, how unoriginal so I guess “The Event” will be canned too. Come on keep on something original that isn’t a reality show or repeated on another channel!
t his was the best new show of the year. Please bring it back and put this episode on tv. this is not a satisfying ending. this episode was one of the best episodes of t he series. Please finish this and do t he next 3 episodes. Then release on dvd and i think it would sell to all the cape fans. I believe you would make money if this was released on dvd.
honestly, i think NBC is crap. They simply RUIN every good show. Fact of the matter is, these shows are too in depth and creative for the “average” viewer who just watches reality shows about fat asses and has-beens. NBC is falling apart and has been for quite some time. The loss of Conan, Heroes, and now the Cape. Without their comedy line up of The Office and 30 rock they are done. And i’ll give them 1 season of the office without steve carrell before it ends. stupid.
If they KNEW it was the series finale then they SHOULD have wrapped it all up.
@Karen: They didn’t.
I love the cape it is different has a good story line great actors. As with most of the shows I really like they get canceled I have yet to figure that one out. Perhaps it just needs more advertizing it is worth a shot in my book to keep it on the air.
