We’ve had plenty of rumors over the past year about The Game and now we have another one. Has BET made a deal to pick up the cancelled sitcom for real this time?
The Game began as a spin-off of the long-running comedy, Girlfriends. The series centers around a first year medical student (Tia Mowry) who chooses to follow her pro-football boyfriend (Pooch Hall) to San Diego. Others in the cast include Brittany Daniel, Coby Bell, Wendy Raquel Robinson, Hosea Chanchez, and Barry Floyd.
The series was cancelled by The CW after three seasons on the air. Even before the cancellation was announced, there were rumors that BET might pick it up and produce new episodes.
In September, news surfaced but nothing happened. In October, there were more rumors but nothing happened. Then, in November, the cast reunited on The Mo’Nique Show. Promos showed the host asking the cast if The Game was coming back but that portion was edited out of the actual show.

Now, BVBuzz is reporting that BET has made a deal with Paramount to produce new episodes. Their source said, “The deal is done between the two networks. Now it’s a matter of getting the actors under contract again.” When the show was cancelled last Spring, the actors’ contracts expired.
The contracts are reportedly expected to be finalized in the next couple weeks. The only snag might be Bell, who recently signed on to join the cast of USA’s Burn Notice. It sounds like he’ll still return to The Game but won’t be a series regular.
Series creator Mara Brock Akil is expected to return as well. Once the deal is finalized, production is supposedly scheduled to begin in May in Atlanta.
While the new details sound very promising, we’ve all been fooled before. The difference is that, this time, the actors seem to be talking about it as well. Hall, tweeted a message that said, “Hey @hoseachanchez have u heard? I know I didn’t hear what I think I heard? Hey girl @TiaMowry did you hear? I’ll say THASSWASSUP! Finally!”
Mohry responded to him by writing, “ummmm yes sir!!! Uh oh… That’s wassup aka Derwin Davis. Let’s go!!!” Later, she thanked her readers for their continued devotion to The Game and encouraged them to tell BET how much they love it.
So, it seems like it’s really happening this time, though the actors haven’t signed contracts yet. Hopefully that will go smoothly and we’ll hear an official announcement soon.

I loved the show “The Game”, I’ve wondered what ever happened to the show. Maybe if they would stop changing the time slot, good shows would last. I fell in love with all of the characters, even Rick Foxx character. I would love to find out what happens with Janay Derwin Melanie and the baby. BET ran that promo on The Mo’Nique Show with her rolling her eyes and fat ass neck to play on people,that what they do over there.BET didn’t score big points for bringing back The Game,that’s right the powers over at Viacom made that choice not the so call black folks who think that they got power over at BET.Now if The Game air,what other good show will the air after The Game,maybe Tiny and Toya or Frakie and Neffie,what a waste if them bamms did that,and they might do it.Anytime Tasha Smith hood butt can a show over there,it’s bad.
i really hope it’s true. The game is one of my favorite shows, i watch reruns of the show over and over on bet. I really hope it’s coming back this time. When it was on Cw i never missed an episode.

I have been praying & waiting for The Game to return. I watch the reruns everyday on BET. Whenever they have merithons I watch all day. I am a huge fan of the show and although they said the third season was final I always knew there was more of the Game’s story that need to be told. My prayers have been answered, Thank you BET!!! You know a good thing when you see it.
I think it another rumor hype. Come on people the sitcom is cancelled move on with your life and stop believing all the rumors and hype “The Game ” is filming season 4. The season finale stated that the baby was named Derwin Jr., so yes the baby is Derwin and Janay’s, and yes Kelly and Jason had legally seperated, and of course Derwin and Mel did get married at the end. I am so happy that it is co mi ng back . . . I cant waite to see what will happen with Darwin’s baby & Melanie. I was sad to hear that bell aka Jason Pitts will not be a steady actor I am so curious to find out what will happen with him and his little Pitt’s family, but in over all VER EXCITED!!!!!! woo hoo
