TV show description:
This dramatic series is a spin-off of The Vampire Diaries.
A thousand years ago, the Original Vampire family swore to each other that “Family is power.” They pledged to remain together, always and forever. Now, hundreds of years later, the bonds of family are broken. Time, tragedy and hunger for power have torn the Original Family apart.
Klaus Mikaelson (Joseph Morgan) is the original vampire-werewolf hybrid and he’s now returned to New Orleans, the city his family helped build. It’s the same city from which he and his siblings, Elijah (Daniel Gillies) and Rebekah (Claire Holt), were exiled a century ago by their relentless hunter father.
He’s drawn back by a mysterious tip that a plot is brewing against him in the supernatural French Quarter. Klaus is surprised that the city still feels like home to him — despite the fact that he’s been away for decades.
Curious as to why Klaus would return to the one place he swore he would never set foot again, Elijah follows his brother and learns that Klaus’ onetime flame, the beautiful and rebellious werewolf Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin), has also come to the French Quarter. She’s searching for clues about her family history.
Hayley has fallen into the hands of a powerful witch named Sophie Deveraux (Daniella Pineda). When Sophie reveals to the brothers the unbelievable news that Hayley is carrying Klaus’ unborn child, Elijah realizes that the Original family has been given a second chance at humanity and the redemption they desperately crave.
Klaus is not so easily convinced that a potential heir is of any importance. He’s more intrigued by his recent unexpected reunion with his former protégé, Marcel (Charles Michael Davis). He’s a charismatic but diabolical vampire who now has total control over the human and supernatural inhabitants of New Orleans.
Tensions between the town’s supernatural factions — vampires, witches, werewolves and humans — are nearing a breaking point as Marcel commands his devoted followers and rules with absolute power. For Klaus, the idea of answering to his powerful protégé is unthinkable.
As Klaus vows to reclaim what was once his — the power, the city and his family — he realizes that Elijah is right and that his unborn child could be the key to the Originals’ return to power.
While they wait for their sister Rebekah to join them in New Orleans, Klaus and Elijah form an uneasy alliance with Sophie and her community of witches. Sophie has been turned into a revolutionary by the loss of her own sister at Marcel’s hands, and by the mysterious disappearance of a young witch named Davina (Danielle Campbell). She is willing to do anything – including making a deal with the Original family – to break Marcel’s power over the witches of the French Quarter.
Even the human population of the Quarter is unwittingly drawn into this supernatural battleground. A recent arrival to New Orleans, Cami (Leah Pipes) is a whip-smart psychology grad student who appears happy to pursue her studies by day and work nights as a bartender. She’s unaware that many of her customers are vampires.
Hiding the dark secret that has brought her to New Orleans, Cami soon finds herself fascinated by both Klaus and Marcel, and totally unaware of the danger that they pose for her and everyone around her.
Now, in the midst of a thriving New Orleans, a city known to be steeped in magic and history, the long-smoldering war is about to reach a fever pitch, and the Originals stand as the catalyst. As lines are drawn and strategies are laid out, one truth will echo through the French Quarter – power begins and ends with family.
Episode #92 — When the Saints Go Marching In
Intent on saving Hope’s (Danielle Rose Russell) life, Klaus’ (Joseph Morgan) plan will change the lives of the Mikaelson family forever.
First aired: August 1, 2018.
What do you think? Do you like The Originals TV series? Do you think it should have ended or been renewed for a sixth season?
I loved this show. I wish they had continued it. There are many stories that could have been told. With Hope growing up, they could have started a whole family thing with her parents . But since they killed them off we cant even hope to see them on Legacies. I love that show too. I’m 65 so I don’t meet your regular demographic.
My all time fav show!! Should have just continued. Hope had nothing to do with vampire diaries ending because final episode jumped into the future and happily ever after sequence! Would be great if they decided to come back together and do season 6 and more.
Please renew for season 6 and more….
Should have renewed the Originals!
I liked it even better than “Diaries” was mad it ended
Best show ever writing was amazing , big mistake taking it off
I’m very in to this series and the characters; especially Klaus and Elijah. It is one of the best on TV. I’m really sad to see it go as I try to spread my episode viewing over a period of time but am unable to because I’m addicted to it. Please renew for another season or 2 or 3. Hate to see it go (saying this in my most whinny and pouting voice).
We love this show so much. What is the spin off show in Mystic Falls? We have forgotten the name
I love The Originals, Is one of the best series I’ve ever seen, it’s really great. I hate the end, it was so silly and no sense. I would have liked one more season and a better end.
I absolutely loved this show. I ran across it on Netflix and decided to watch. I was hooked after season 1 and I binged watched until season 4. I was mortified at the end of season 4 because it was the true end…at least that what I thought. I was so elated when I got a notification on Netflix that Season 5 was available. I could hardly wait to see the first episode. Needless to say, I binged watched yet again through to the last episode of the season. I truly hated that the show ended so soon. It was… Read more »
seasons 4 and 5 were too short. They could always come back with season 6. Season 5 could have been a dream that one of the originals were having. Or one of them could be time displaced in the past to save Hope and Hayley.
I’m totally confused. If Klaus and Elijah died, then doesn’t every vampire with their bloodline die according to the TVD? When they killed off Finn in TVD, everyone turned with his blood line died off. That would mean Caroline and Marcel would die since Klaus’ blood line turned them. Did they forget that or did I miss an episode in TVD where they used a spell or something to unlink them??
Pleeaasssseeeee make a new season this is literally the best show everr
The Originals is my absolute favorite show of all time. I really wish you all would allow another few seasons. I know the actors would go along with a few more seasons…please reconsider, at least let the series run as long as Vampire Diaries..please reconsider.
Please do not remove the originals you’ve already destroyed the vampire diaries which was an amazing show, now the only great vampire show you are taking off. I’m so disappointed on sick and do not know how long I’ll live and so love this show. Please keep it on the air
Ok, so I’m embarrassed to say that I’m 50 and I LOVE this show. The Originals and VPD are my guilty pleasure. It’s only been 5 seasons; there are so many more stories to tell and directions this sho can go. It’s bad enough VPD was cancelled, but it had a long run. Clearly The Originals can run just as long. I’m crying here .
I’m over 50 and love the show. Pissed that it’s going off. They keep taking off all the good ones and putting half baked crap like “The Outpost on!
It was a really good show and looked forward to watching it. It has had a lot of exciting episodes and could not wait til the next was on. Definitly renew the Originals
Renew ,Its one of the best sci first shows out there next to supernatural .They canceled Lucifer just when it was getting good ,so please renew the originals .
