While the CBS audience tends to skew older, the Tiffany Network still packs ’em in, when it comes to total audience size. A number of its dramas are getting long in the tooth and their Nielsen ratings have declined over the years, so it’s always in search of the next hit. Enter The Red Line TV show. Will its themes of community, class, and race appeal to viewers, or drive them away in droves? Will The Red Line be cancelled or renewed for season two, possibly with a new cast? Stay tuned. *Status update below.
A CBS limited series, The Red Line stars Noah Wyle, Emayatzy Corinealdi, Noel Fisher, Howard Charles, Aliyah Royale, Michael Patrick Thornton, Vinny Chhibber, Corey Reynolds, and Elizabeth Laidlaw. The drama centers on three separate Chicago families forever changed by the shooting of an unarmed African American doctor, by a white police officer. As it delves into life in three distinct neighborhoods, the series explores how our circumstances affect our experience.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly in the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — typically around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated chart, please try reloading the page or view it here.
Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
What do you think? Do you like The Red Line TV series? Should this CBS TV show be cancelled or renewed for a second season? Would you watch with a new cast and story?
*6/7/19 update: It’s been confiirmed that there won’t be a second season for The Red Line TV show on CBS.
Although Noah Wyle’s performance is deeply moving, I found that the disjointed writing and lack of depth for an officer involved shooting investigation make for a dismal combination. Sadly, I could not force myself to watch the remaining six episodes after the season premiere. This show is certainly not worth renewing.
This was an amazing series. I am an 80 year old woman and was so captured by the story lines. Wonderful acting. Great seeing Noah W. Please bring it back. I would love to see how these families lives continue. Thank you for bringing this terrific show to the screen.
Love this show, tackles real issues in a great storyline. Please renew!!
RENEW IT PLEASE!!!!!
Renew!! Love cast and real life story line!! True issues we face in the world today. I do not think there needs to be a new cast!
Renew!! Love the cast and true life issues!!
I love Redline, can’t wait to watch it in Sunday, I love the cast and don’t think they need to change. They are showing real life experiences and what is going on in the world today. I truly hope they bring the show back.
The Redline is a fantastic show! My husband and I look forward to watching it! Just love the storyline. Please bring back the Redline!! The issues that are shown are happening everyday in today’s society! Actors are excellent . Huge fan of this show.
Bring it back, bring it back‼️
I do not understand why this happens to CBS show it was great show. They always do this to great shows.
I looked forward to The Red Line since I saw the first ad for it. Though I wasn’t a fan of Noah Wylie, he has turned out to be a credible gay dad of a very bright, articulate daughter. The program is well cast, and the complex storyline has been well executed. I’m looking forward to the season finale. I can’t say whether the show should be renewed until we watch the finale. If there’s a resolution that leaves open reason for it to continue to be interesting, then I say Yes.
I’ve really enjoyed watching the Redline series. It’s refreshing and appropriate of the difficult times America is
is going through these days. I hope it continues in the near future.
I absolutely love this show. Both the acting and story line are incredible. Not to mention it’s a refreshingly new “type” of drama series which has been lacking on television for years. Please please renew for another season!!
I’m tired of shows intersecting homosexuals, politics, and race baiting against our police. We gave it a try, but not suitable for my family.
You’re actually politicizing the police by trying to separate it from those other things. It’s naive and ignorant to imply that political/racial/LGBTQ issues aren’t involved in influencing policing decisions. You don’t have to agree with the way that a show approaches such topics, but it’s another thing to criticize it for simply trying to reflect the complexity of real life.
The story “jumped the shark”. It made no sense that the cop’s partner saved rather than destroying the security video after she stole it, that the cop brought it to work to watch it, or that he punched the driver who parked in the spot that a woman called “dibs” on (Not to mention there was no snow on the ground to make saving the spot seem important) I didn’t care about the characters and I only watched to see how foolish it became (and because I worked as an extra in it) The cop had a full time job… Read more »
