It looks like the singing is over for The Sing-Off on NBC — at least for now.
The a capella singing competition debuted in December 2009 and ran for just four episodes. It was renewed for a second season of five episodes. The network execs then decided to try The Sing-Off as a regular fall series but the ratings really suffered.
It was believed to be cancelled but NBC revived the show for a fourth season that aired during the holidays to low ratings.
A fifth season was ordered but the network ended up making it a two hour special instead. That aired December 17, 2014 and drew more low ratings.
There’s been no word on the fate of The Sing-Off in over a year and the NBC site hasn’t been updated since December 2014. What’s more, the official casting site still reflects the Fall 2014 audition information.
So, it appears that the show is over — at least for now. Networks bring shows back all the time these days so the series certainly could be revived at some point in the future.

Loved the show. Have been looking for it. Was disappointed when the last one was only two hours. The singing talent is amazing. Without it there wouldn’t be any Pentatonix! BRING BACK SING OFF!!!
Yes – bring back The Sing-Off! It’s the best raw talent show on tv that always makes me feel good no matter what else is going on in the world. 10 stars
The Sing Off was absolutely awesome. Such incredible talent. Can’t believe it’s no more. Do more advertising!! This show is right up there with The Voice.
One of the best music competitions ever. Judges were not just appealing for their looks, but gave some very seasoned musical technical opinions. It brought acapella music to a whole new level. I had friends who were slow to wake up to this show… And now it is no more. Bring it back, please!
I usually hate competion shows as well as reality shows, but the sing off was one show I loved and looked forward to watching. I would love it if despite your ratings if it was brought back yearly. I didn’t know when & if it was even on, it needs more advertisement to let people it’s on too.

PLEASE!!! PLEASE!! Bring this show back. This show really shows great raw talent because everybody can’t sing a capella and sound as great as some of the groups did on this show! I will watch this show over The Voice any day!!!

This series badly missed in the UK as we don’t have anything like it and WE LOVE IT !!!!!
I love this show but missed it last year because I didn’t see one ad so didn’t know it was on. With The Voice not on late fall and American Idol gone, please keep this show, but spruce it up a bit and let everyone know when it’s going to be on!
