The X-Files will return to FOX for a new mini-series in January, and there is more news about the future of Dana Scully, who is played by Gillian Anderson.
Fans were in an uproar when it was revealed that Scully and Fox Mulder, played by David Duchovny, had split since the fans last saw the couples on the big screen.
This news may cause a riot. Not only has Dana moved on from Fox on The X-Files, she will have a new love interest during the six-episode mini-series.
TV Guide reported that Joel McHale will be both Fox’s partner and a new love interest for Dana. Mulder will not be at all happy about that development. He will make reference to the split during the season.
Are you surprised that Dana will have a new love interest on The X-Files? Tell us what you think.
I think everyone would have liked to see Mulder and Scully finally get together for real, but they always leave use wondering. We know they have been together, at least that’s what the series is trying to make us believe, but they really are like “best friends” and it would be nice to see Scully have a real relationship. All she has done is work and never seems to have a life. I’de like to see this, but I’m also sad to see her leave the series. BOO HOO! Also, for Mulder…he gives the appearance that he will die a… Read more »
Mulder and scully have a special chemistry, on the x files to change this seems wrong. There bond makes the unknown more exciting, they push one another to see what’s out there, to part them brings conflict and separation in there working together to find the unknown.
The show was always about the unknown, UFO’s and the paranormal. The show was always spooky and scary; which is one of the main reason’s I watched the X-Files. As long as they stay with that theme and NOT make it a soap opera I will be find with the show’s returning.
The X-Files isn’t about “love interests.” It’s about investigating the unknown, the paranormal. So, the “shippers” won’t be happy. They’ll survive. Let’s get back to the bare bones that made the show the hit it is!
I’m with Anne and JimC. Let’s see how this plays out. Conflict is the essence of good drama, and introducing a new love interest for Scully (but REALLY? the guy from COMMUNITY??!!???!) will certainly add conflict to the mix. And yes, a lot can happen in six episodes.
Great, lets hope he is young and handsome. Nothing wrong with that! Go Scully!
A lot can happen in 6 episodes. Can’t wait to see.
Doubtful that it will work to the fan’s satisfaction (mine included)but let’s see how it plays out.
