The Training Day reboot is coming to CBS, but there is a big change for the series pilot now being reported. According to Showbiz 411, the series will reverse the roles played in the film.
In 2001, Denzel Washington starred as the older cop, and he worked with a rookie played by Ethan Hawke. For the television series, the older cop will be played by a white actor, and the rookie will be played a black actor.
The news outlet reported that “Frank Rourke is the “wolf, a rogue cop, and a man who lives by the law of the jungle.” His protege is Kyle Craig, a young naive black trainee who will try and take Frank down.”
There is also a chance that fans will see Hawke bring his character from the film to the small screen. His character is involved as the deputy chief of police.
Are you surprised by the role reversal for the Training Day reboot? Do you plan to watch this series if/when it arrives? Tell us what you think.
Why change it? Ridiculous.
Why make it? Nobody asked for this.
So don’t watch
Sounds like Progressive pandering to me, or racial profiling perhaps ?
I don’t know, sounds like progressive pandering to me.
The producers don’t think TV viewers are progressive enough to have the instructor be black and trainee be white….and that’s why it’s failing.
