Last May, NBC announced that it would be adding two new medical shows. Trauma would begin airing in the Fall and Mercy would come in early 2010. That plan got messed up when production on Parenthood, another new show, was delayed, and Mercy was brought in early to take its place.
With two new medical dramas on the network, many suspected there was going to be one too many. A few months later, one is struggling to survive and the other has been effectively cancelled.
Trauma revolves around a group of first responder paramedics in San Francisco. The high-action series is populated by an ensemble cast that includes Derek Luke, Cliff Curtis, Anastasia Griffith, Kevin Rankin, Aimee Garcia, Billy Lush, Jamey Sheridan, and Taylor Kinney.
The drama has had problems attracting viewers from the beginning. Its premiere only attracted 6.68 million viewers and a 2.2/5 rating/share of the 18-49 demographic. The following week, the numbers sank to 5.36 million and a 1.7/4. The numbers have been rising slowly since then but not by much. Monday’s episode hit a post-premiere high of 5.77 million and a 1.9/5, putting the show in fourth place for the timeslot.
To no surprise, NBC has decided not to order additional episodes of Trauma. While all 13 episodes of the series will be aired, the network won’t be ordering any more. It’s unknown if the cast and crew will be able to give the show any closure by the last episode.
What do you think? Are you disappointed that Trauma is ending or should it have been cancelled awhile ago?
UPDATE: Trauma returning with new episodes.

Hello I would like to say that I really enjoyed the show. it was great. And u just end it off with Rabbits girlfriend kissing Glenn. I was waiting for the next season to come out.
very disappointed in the cancelation of Trauma…I looked forward to it every week, NBC has not been very nice to alot of their faithful viewers. I used to really look forward to the show LIFE as well, but when Jay Leno decieded to go primetime, it didn’t matter what shows got canceled in the way of making the network happy. Now that leno is back where he belongs, why didn’t they bring all the shows back that canceled because of it???it just baffles me!!! Maybe i should take up reading, instead of watching tv.
Come on, folks! This was a great show, combining sexual attraction, adventure, poignant moments, etc. Lots of charissma. What a shame. With that and the loss of Mercy, one must wonder who the hell is making these decisions. Most of what is on the air is crap at best.
Bring it back.. My husband and I watched it everytime it was on and when we were working late because we own our own business it was dvr’d.. So lets not keep a good show on but leave on all these dumb reality shows.. Disappointed..
Trauma was my favorite show!!!! Why do they always cancel the good ones?
BRING IT BACK!!!!! IT’S MUCH BETTER THAN THE REST OF THESE WACK MEDICAL DRAMA SHOWS!
loved it wish it was back on

I agree with katie, I did not know about the show until netflix as well and was hoping to see another season come out soon, but i see thats not going to happen. Im disapointed to find this out. I would like to see them come out with another season.
We did not find out about trauma until netflix, but we love it and would have most defiantly contiued to watch it!!!!!
I loved trauma, what a shame.
yes i am definitely upset and disappointed that you guys took trauma off tv. it was the one paramedic tv show i would actually watch with my husband. we got addicted to it, and then it got took off.
I loved trauma also. I loved Saving grace on tnt. Seems the shows I love and get into always go off the air, maybe I should quit watching tv altogether.
Wow I disapointed that the show will not return. I hope NBC reconsiders this one. Thanks
BRINGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG TRAUMA back…Love that show…Please someother network pick it up
