Alright alright alright. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Matthew McConaughey is interested in reprising his True Detective role.
In season one of the HBO drama, McConaughey played Louisiana homicide detective Rust Cohle. The cast also included Woody Harrelson, Michelle Monaghan, and Michael Potts.
During a recent radio interview, the actor said he misses Rust Cohle and would return if asked:
Yeah, I would. I miss Rust Cohle, man. I miss watching him on Sunday nights. I miss watching True Detective on Sunday nights. I was a happy man while we made that for six months, because I was on my own island.”
He added:
It would have to be the right context, the right way. That thing, when I read it, I knew in 20 minutes. I was like, ‘If I can play this guy, Rustin Cohle, I’m in.'”
However, that return may never happen as HBO chief Casey Bloys recently said a third season of True Detective is unlikely after the much-panned second season.
What do you think? Are you a fan of True Detective? Would you like to see McConaughey return to the HBO series?
Great series that I hope will continue.
