God save the Queen! The Victoria TV show has been renewed for a second season on ITV. According to Deadline, Victoria season two has also been picked up by PBS, which makes sense, because it is an ITV co-production with MASTERPIECE on PBS. That said, PBS has yet to announce the renewal.
In UK, the eight-episode first season premiered on ITV on August 28, 2016. In the US, the PBS premiere is scheduled for January 15, 2017. From Daisy Goodman, Victoria stars Jenna Coleman as Queen Victoria, Tom Hughes as Prince Albert, and Rufus Sewell as Lord Melbourne.
The cast also includes Alex Jennings, Paul Rhys, Catherine H. Flemming, Peter Firth, Eve Myles, Tommy Knight, Nichola McAuliffe, Daniela Holtz, Nigel Lindsay, Ferdinand Kingsley, Adrian Schiller, David Oakes, and Alice Orr-Ewing.

ITV orders second series of successful royal drama Victoria
ITV’s Head of Drama Polly Hill and ITV’s Director of Television Kevin Lygo announced today that critically acclaimed Victoria has been recommissioned for a second series from screenwriter Daisy Goodwin and producers Mammoth Screen.
The first series starred Jenna Coleman as the young Queen alongside Tom Hughes as Prince Albert. It launched at the end of August and has been a huge ratings success, with the series averaging 7.7 million viewers and 29.7% share of viewing, based on consolidated overnights. This makes it the top rated ITV drama of the year so far.
ITV’s Director of Television, Kevin Lygo said: “Mammoth and Daisy Goodwin have brought the characters so vividly to life in this series, and we’re thrilled with the reception for Victoria. We’re pleased to be able to confirm that Jenna Coleman and Tom Hughes will return to continue the story on ITV.”
Victoria is produced for ITV by respected drama indie Mammoth Screen. Daisy Goodwin will again be writing and executive producing the series, alongside Mammoth Screen’s Damien Timmer and Kate McKerrell (Lost in Austen). The second series will once again be produced by Paul Frift. ITV’s Senior Drama Commissioner Victoria Fea will oversee production of the second series from the Network’s perspective. Victoria is a co-production with MASTERPIECE on PBS, with Rebecca Eaton serving as executive producer. Victoria premieres on MASTERPIECE on PBS on January 15, 2017.
Daisy Goodwin said: “Even though she reigned in the 19th Century, Victoria is a heroine for our times. In the next series she faces the very modern dilemma of how to juggle children with her husband and her job. As Victoria will discover, it’s hard to be a wife, a mother and ruler of the most powerful nation on earth!”
Damien Timmer said: “Following the audience response to Victoria we are delighted that the extraordinary Jenna Coleman will be returning to her throne for a second series. The next few years of Victoria’s reign are packed full of extraordinary real life events, with constitutional crises, scandals at court and personal challenges aplenty for the Queen and Prince Albert. God Save the Queen!” VICTORIA is distributed internationally by ITV Studios Global Entertainment.
What do you think? If you’re in UK, have you been watching the Victoria TV series? Does it deserve to be renewed? If you’re in the US, do you plan to check out the Victoria series premiere on PBS?
A magnificent series. Thanks PBS
I love English history so I loved Victoria. Can go on if they get into her offspring and where some of her children & grandchildren ended up. Plenty of drama there. Watch & enjoy practically all PBS series.
I hope if PBS takes on Season 2 Victoria, they release an unedited complete Season 2 DVD set. It is such a wonderful series that it deserves to be unedited. The actors are superb and matched their characters beautifully. The writing (script) is masterful. Everything is so wonderful regarding this series, one can only pray that Season 2 will be just as spectacular!!
I love Victoria Bring her back.
Please show a season 2and 3!
Please show a SEAson 2 and 3 of Victoria!
I have been in love with all of England Monarchies, but Queen Victoria is my favorite Hope to see her whole Reign on PBS.
I am from the US and have thoroughly enjoyed Victoria! I’m so impressed with the script writing (which is more true to life than I first realized), the acting and all the elaborate detail about their lives. It is so refreshing to have a show with characters who are people of integrity and kindness, and in which sensuality for the most part is left out of the romance; I think it befitting of a series about the honored queen of England and has a tasteful style that would dignify and improve the quality of many a movie. I hope there… Read more »

I am in the U.S. and have been watching each episode on PBS. I have LOVED every minute if it and an excited to see there will be a season 2. This queen reigned for many years; hopefully there will be additional “seasons” as well. I look forward to each new episode every Sunday evening. The actors are superb.
I am from the U.S. I love the series! When the second season begins, how much time will have lapsed since the birth of baby Victoria? Also, what date is set for the series to continue. I watch through PBS. Thank you for providing us with a wonderful look at her life.
