Commander in Chief: Geena Davis President Will Return

Commander in Chief will returnAs you may know, Commander in Chief starred Geena Davis as female President Mackenzie Allen. The series started off strong in the ratings but was then plagued by production issues which resulted in declining viewership.

Soonafter ABC announced the cancellation of the struggling freshman series, word came out that Chief and the show’s characters may return in the form of a made-for-tv movie. ABC chief Steve McPherson was reportedly in talks with seriescreator Rod Lurie and hoped that a decision would be reached over the summer. Well, it looks like we won’t have to wait that long.

In an appearance last night on ABC’s late-night talk show Jimmy Kimmel Live, guest Geena Davis announced that there would indeed be a two-hour movie. She didn’t offer any further details but fans of the White House drama are elated.

The actress was on the show promoting the upcoming Commander in Chief season one release on DVD. Davis joked that she refused to step down out of office, has been storing the White House sets in her garage and has been filming scenes for Chief just in case. Who says that politics can’t be funny? Love this show, just found it on Hulu didn’t even know it was over. Haven’t seen the finale. Please come back Geena. Great job on directing. Love it.

I absolutely loved this show. I really hope it returns in some way. It’s exciting, meaningful and not to mention new. But I can see how it’s laking some realistic framwork, some more personal touch on geena’s inside world and such. They can’t play the president as just an activist or national mom that keep rescuing people and stay moral role model. Nobody wants her to torture or realse dirty tapes of other people but what happened in the show makes it a bit unrealistic and hence less intriguing. It has to be more ocmplicated than that, but then someone’s gonna care for the image.

Yes, and I have the CD. I want the shows that never aired. Does anyone know how I can get those? 18 were aired and 18 are on the DVD.There are 5 “lost episodes” that never aired.

I specifically remember the day they cancelled. The episode coming up was that day and it was going to be the President firing her Cabinet. I remember the promos for it and then it was cancelled the day it was going to air.

I always thought they didn’t want to make Hillary look bad and it was pulled.

        Per Wikipedia:
        Episodes not shown

ABC had planned for 23 episodes but it was cut down to 18 episodes. The final five were made[citation needed] but never aired and are not on the DVD.

Federal Way Blog » The show had several production issues so they never filmed more than 18. All of them aired and are on the DVD sets.

Like most, the show was canned because of poor ratings. The series got off to a good start but ABC had to put it on hiatus, in part because of the production problems, and public interest waned.

The show was cancelled in mid-May while it was on hiatus. It returned for the three final episodes on 5/31, 6/7, and 6/14. There was talk about bringing the show back for occasional movies but it never happened.
