Along with Baby Daddy and Switched at Birth, Melissa & Joey has been renewed for another year. Currently in its second season on ABC Family, the sitcom will be back for a third round of episodes sometime in 2013.
Melissa & Joey revolves around a local politician (Melissa Joan Hart) who hires a jobless commodities trader (Joey Lawrence) to look after her niece and nephew (Taylor Spreitler and Nick Robinson).
The early installments of the first season of Melissa & Joey proved so successful that ABC Family ended up ordering a whopping 30 episodes total. For season two, they asked for 15 installments.
The 13 second season episodes that have aired so far have averaged a 0.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 1.24 million total viewers. The most recent episode drew a season high in viewership with 1.63 million.
There are two episodes left in the second season with the finale set for August 29th. There’s no word on how many episodes ABC Family has ordered for season three or when they’re expected to debut.
