Monday Mornings: To Be Cancelled or Renewed for Season Two?

Monday Mornings cancel or renew?TNT recently wrapped the first season of Monday Mornings, their latest medical drama. Should it return for a second season or be cancelled instead?

Monday Mornings follows the lives of the talented yet flawed doctors at the Chelsea General Hospital in Portland, Oregon. The title refers to the tough peer review meetings that are run by the hospital’s sarcastic Chief of Staff. The cast includes Ving Rhames, Jamie Bamber, Jennifer Finnigan, Bill Irwin, Keong Sim, Sarayu Rao, Emily Swallow, and Alfred Molina.

The show started off the season with just 1.36 million viewers and a 0.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic. That was less than half of what the Dallas premiere lead-in drew with 2.98 million and a 0.8 demo rating.

The numbers for Monday Mornings didn’t get much better as the weeks wore on. The season ended up averaging just 1.39 million viewers and a 0.3 in the demo.

Given these numbers, it seems highly unlikely that Monday Mornings will be back for a second season.

But what do you think? Would you like to see the show return for a second season or do you think it should be cancelled? Why do you think the show didn’t catch on with a bigger audience? Was the title a problem? What would you have called it?

Please, please renew! So much better than Grey’s, has heart, yet also great acting and great script. It isn’t dumbed-down, or unrealistic. I didn’t even know about it, as never saw ads or promos, so that might account for lack of viewership. I just stumbled upon it by accident.

This is an incredible show! It’s intelligently written, thought provoking and mind expanding. RENEW IT!

I love Monday Mornings! It’s thought provoking which is unusual these days. I hope it isn’t cancelled.

It’s David E Kelly for goodness sake! It’s fabulous! I was wanting much more than this short little season on TNT. We were very pleased to be able to watch on Comcast ‘catch up’ as our day starts at 4:45am and 10:00pm TV does not work for us. Hope it returns, perhaps to a major network where it might get a wider audience.

I loved this show. The characters are great and each episode left me wanting more. I hope another channel will pick this up. I would love to see more of these doctors.

I hope the show gets a second season, so cast members can get comfortable with their characters and work on their chemistry as an ensemble. It should have a second season!

I’ve already posted once, but I need to show my love and support. 😉

Does anyone else also keep Googling “Monday Mornings cancelled or renewed”? I want to hear the news, and even though the predictions are bleak, I am still hopeful. I absolutely second the idea that if TNT axes it, they should try it elsewhere. The show really has a strong potential. Medical dramas can be hits, and this one has a great cast and an interesting hook. Did any of those medical shows connect medicine and law? I’m not aware of it, and as far as I know, that’s quite an issue in real life as well.

Best medical drama I have ever seen on T.v. and I have watched them all since Dr Marcus Welby M.D. Renew it and move it to a major network and I think it would find a huge following.

This is a great show! Needs to be renewed for 2nd season. Far more accurate and better written than most TV shows esp. CSI in all its variations which I wouldn’t watch.

This is one of the bst medical shows I have seen. I hope it is renewed for a second season.
Seems all the good shows disappear.
