What would you do if you and your family were transported to to a prehistoric world? That’s the premise of the classic Hanna-Barbera animated series called Valley of the Dinosaurs. The show ran for 16 episodes on CBS beginning on September 7, 1974.
While on a rafting excursion, the raft of science teacher John Butler, his wife Kim, their two children (Katie and Greg), and their dog Digger hits a rock and capsizes. The family gets caught in a whirlpool and they resurface in a prehistoric valley. There, they meet caveman Gorok, his wife Gara, and their two children (Lok and Tana). The two families become friends and Gorok and his kin help the Butlers try to find a way home while discovering how to survive in the valley.
The TV series features an impressive group of voice talent including Melanie Baker, Shannon Farnon, Joan Gardner, Kathy Gori, Jackie Earle Haley, Don Messick, Alan Oppenheimer, Andrew Parks, Mike Road, and Frank Welker.
