Though AMC has had some popular scripted series that have run for years, many others have been cancelled after just one season. How is the current crop of shows doing? Which will be cancelled or renewed? We’ll have to wait and see.
Scripted AMC Network shows listed: 61st Street, Anne Rice’s Interview with the Vampire, Anne Rice’s Mayfair Witches, The Beast Must Die, Better Call Saul, Breaking Bad, Dark Winds, Dietland, A Discovery of Witches, Dispatches from Elsewhere, Fear the Walking Dead, Feed the Beast, Halt and Catch Fire, Hell on Wheels, Humans, Into the Badlands, Kevin Can F**k Himself, Killing Eve, Lodge 49, Low Winter Sun, Lucky Hank, Mad Men, McMafia, The Night Manager, NOS4A2, Parish, Preacher, The Son, Soulmates, Tales of the Walking Dead, The Terror, Turn: Washington’s Spies, The Walking Dead, The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, The Walking Dead: Dead City, and The Walking Dead: World Beyond.
Last update: Most recent ratings added for Anne Rice’s Interview with the Vampire.
There’s lots of data that AMC execs look at when deciding whether to renew or cancel a TV series but ratings are the major ingredient. Here’s an updated listing of all of their recent/current primetime scripted shows.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated charts, please try reloading the page. You can also view them here and here.
A couple of notes about these charts:
These figures are updated automatically as new ratings are released (usually a day or so after the broadcasts). The averages are based on the final national numbers (live plus same day viewing). For technical reasons, I have to resort them manually so feel free to let me know if I missed something.
The demo numbers, which are typically most important to the broadcast networks, aren’t quite as vital to cable channels because their audiences are usually much smaller. Demo numbers are typically reported using the 10ths decimal place (2.4, for example). In the averages, I’m using an extra decimal for easier ranking.
What do you think? Are you surprised by any of the ratings? Which shows should be doing better? Which one do you think will be cancelled next?
Fear the walking dead has turned into a pile of kum baya dribble. How is it still on the air after 2 season of this crap. Put us out of your misery. NOW.
I don’t understand why you are cancelling The Son and keeping Lodge & McMafia when they have lower viewing. The Son is a good show and should not be cancelled.
Into the badlands is the wonderful story line the story should continue, why cancelled?
We got screwed by AMC with Into the Badlands. Season 3 was supposed to be 16 episodes. We got 8, and the other 8 didn’t come until the following year. They also announced that those 8 were going to be the last episodes, and they were cancelling the series. Nobody picked it up. The ratings were not awful. The show also moved all over the place.
Noooooooooooo Netflix please pick this up pleassssse it’s such a great show
The tv show Humans is about something that could really happen in future history and is very well done!!!! It would be a shame to not see any more shows!
The ratings for The Walking Dead are still good enough for it to be renewed for a season 10. AMC is destroying Into The Badlands. We had the first half of season three, and then Nothing. It is really awful. I get the feeling it will end with the second half of season 3, which is wrong. I was expecting 2019 to have 16 episodes for season 4 of ITB.
I love Lodge 49. I hate that because of its low rating, it may get cancelled, because obviously s2 is going to be where the show really starts diving into the things that are a mystery in s1
It’s no surprize that Into The Badlands keeps losing viewers. Daniel Wu is a screen hog with little to no acting ability and the writers are doing a horrible job attaching the plots to him in any meaningful way even creating holes in the plot to do so. It’s clear to see from S1-3 that anytime Wu has less screen time the ratings spike up not nose dive. The viewers have spoken. We hate Sunny, but it doesn’t matter as long as Wu is Sunny, we will have to deal with his narcissism even if that means the death of… Read more »
I luv this show & everything about it! U voicing ur opinion is absolutely ur right as an American, it’s jus wrong…sorry, not sorry! I’m sure 99% of the viewers would agree w/me! We don’t have many shows these days of something that hasn’t already been done or the fcc will allow! So let’s not be ********, live life relaxed & luving it, not whining & stressing…it’s more enjoyable that way
I have been so thrilled watching The Terror! It led me to read Dan Simmons’ novel AND to research further into the historical aspects of the series. I had not realized Erebus & Terror were so recently discovered! That fact alone is serendipitous with this remarkable series! PLEASE DO NOT CANCEL IT!
My wife and I are really into “The Terror”. It’s historically interesting! (Spoiler Alert) following…. …..The actual ships were just discovered a few years ago (The book – Dan Simmons / “The Terror” was written seven years before they were found and other books showing the artifacts, boats etc were written 1 year before this show was made, making it very timely! The British accent can make it a little harder to follow (we use captions for clarity) but once you get into it especially if you understand its not pure fiction it’s a wonderful and exciting story to watch.… Read more »
I absolutely agree with you 100 % !!
Terror was an AMAZING show!
But the way it was/is ended, a second season would not make sense really…..unless they do season 2, either as a prequel or a story about HOW they discovered the ships!?
Like a dramatic documentary, in they same “way/format”; ( sorry …english is my second language); as Terror was written/ acted out…
The Terror was absolutelly BRILLIANT and left a “sadness, and wanting for MORE” ; within me…..; but to make a s.2 , would almost ruin the experience.
I would still watch it tho….
😉
Why is it that good shows like Into The Badlands, Preacher and Humans get lower ratings every episode / season, not just the usual 10-20-30 percent drop that’s common for every show on every network now but huge 50 percent drops, when there are almost no bad reviews, only good ones? Cable seems to suffer much harder than broadcast
Good question!!
I wonder that too….
Perhaps because we DVR these shows we LOVE, and watch them over and over again LATER…!?
hmmm…!?
” Things that make you go …hmmm…!? “
I can,t believe people would rather watch stupid zombies walking around over and over again boring .I am talking walking dead.
Hope to be viewing the preacher next season. I barely watch TV at all &that is the one series I never miss!!!
Preacher is brilliant, please renew for a third season. great plot and acting and so different
Hell on wheels was a good TV series, i miss it.
Whats going on witb Better Call Soul? We want season 4! Omg we loveeee jimmi. love to hate his brother, who’s such a jerk. Pls show Better Call Saul. Plssss
