It appears that plans for season three of BBC’s Atlantis have sunk. The TV show, which airs on BBC America here in the States, has been cancelled after two seasons.
On Atlantis, a young man named Jason (Jack Donnelly) goes in search of his long-missing father and ends up on the shores of ancient Atlantis. He’s befriended by a pair of unlucky locals — former prize fighter Hercules (Mark Addy) and intellectual Pythagoras (Robert Emms) — as well as a revered Oracle (Juliet Stevenson). Others in the cast include Sarah Parish, Aiysha Hart, and Jemima Rooper.
BBC announced the show’s cancellation this way: “The final seven episodes of Atlantis will transmit on BBC One in spring. We would like to thank Urban Myth Films and all the cast and crew but the series will not be re-commissioned. We are very proud of both series but to keep increasing the range of BBC One drama we have to make difficult decisions to bring new shows through.”
Six of the 13 episodes of season two have aired so far in the US. No word on when they’ll be released here.
What do you think? Do you like the Atlantis TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for a third season?
Atlantis is one of the best shows I have ever watched keep it going. It’s so much better than the usual junk that is on TV. Thanks Gary
I watched all of season 1 and what we have of season 2 in 3 days…I live the show and my husband likes it as well…not many shows we both can sit and watch together that we both like, sad that it’s cancelled…I think they sould do season 3…every time I find a show I like it gets cancelled!!!!!
I think a movie should be made to finish it off! It was a bit of a cliffhanger ending, what with Jason on a quest for the Golden Fleece, and it would be nice to see if he can beat his mother Pasiphae! And if he ends up with Ariadne or Medea! I know what happened in the REAL myths, but while this uses a lot of the characters, It doesn’t really follow the myths at all! And I hate when a series is canceled without closure!
Dam i wanted to watch season 3 so badly then i read this. BBC is **** up always the good shows go away when they are at their best
I love it season 3 shouldn’t be
cancelled
I love it season 3 shouldn’t be cancelled
I really enjoyed the Atlantis show. Sad to see it go.
ATLANTIS is a great show, me and my wife watched it here in Belgium. And we would like it if the creators would make more seasons. Now it has an open ending, so that fans can hope for a next season. I was a little disapointed when I read that there’s not going to be a next season.
Very disappointed to know that there isn’t going to be a 3rd season. Just finished watching Vol.2 of season 2, and I was really looking forward to the next season. As somebody else commented, there are other shows deserving the cancellation.
Hi As I am coming to the ended of season 2 of Atlantis it’s with great sadness that i must say that i was disappointment to learn that there will not be a season 3. I believe if shows like Atlantis is shown world wide there will be a season 3…. from Windhoek, Namibia
**** another good show canceled. I want a third season. This was one of the four shows I was looking forward to. Why couldn’t they at least sold the show to a different network to continue it. 🙁 this make me upset now I only have three good shows to watch.
