It appears that plans for season three of BBC’s Atlantis have sunk. The TV show, which airs on BBC America here in the States, has been cancelled after two seasons.
On Atlantis, a young man named Jason (Jack Donnelly) goes in search of his long-missing father and ends up on the shores of ancient Atlantis. He’s befriended by a pair of unlucky locals — former prize fighter Hercules (Mark Addy) and intellectual Pythagoras (Robert Emms) — as well as a revered Oracle (Juliet Stevenson). Others in the cast include Sarah Parish, Aiysha Hart, and Jemima Rooper.
BBC announced the show’s cancellation this way: “The final seven episodes of Atlantis will transmit on BBC One in spring. We would like to thank Urban Myth Films and all the cast and crew but the series will not be re-commissioned. We are very proud of both series but to keep increasing the range of BBC One drama we have to make difficult decisions to bring new shows through.”
Six of the 13 episodes of season two have aired so far in the US. No word on when they’ll be released here.

This is an intelligent, creative and very entertaining show, with a good bit of humor. I was pleased with it, and a true fan from the first episode. I am so upset that it was canceled. They could have at very least committed to a half season to wrap up the show. How can that ridiculous royalty reality show continue on BBC air, but, this little gem is canceled? I’ll never understand!
Also wondering if I caught the last show that was aired. Was it August 8th?

I Love Season 1 and 2 of Atlantis! I was looking forward to season 3, I am so disappointed to learn that there is no season 3……
BBC you suck. At least let a show wrap it up. Instead you except me to tune to some crap reality show. If I want reality I go outside.
I just started watching this show(late yes I know) I binged watched this show fell in love with it and now I find out your not going to give us a 3rd season! What the heck! I really hate it when you find a show you like and they yank it and leave you hanging! At the very least bring it back and finish it to a good end! One more season PLEASE! Dis is really bad hw can u guys leave us hanging at dis point.dere are so much tins dat are still left to be known lyke wat happens to pasiphae, ariadne jason and medea and even in season 1 dere was a tyme wen a certain lady called atalanta helped jason and she said dat deir paths are going to meet again in d future with d cancellation of d show how are we meant 2 understand all dis. Y on earth should such a show like this be cancelled it is by far d best series show I have ever watched it was an intriguing show how would u expect we the audience to feel having watched the show from d onset and now u wanna. Leave us hanging dis is very sad
What the heck this suckkss! This is probably the best show I’ve ever seen and has so many places it could go!!! I’m so disappointed BBC America sucks! You say you need to “make room for other shows” but Atlantis is by far the best one ya’ll have. Super depressing. I’m very upset.
The show is well done and I enjoy it. Some how they have to find a way to bring it back. Great cast and writers. Good family shows should not be cancel.
