It looks like The Catch has failed to catch on. The ABC TV series has been cancelled after two seasons. The defacto series finale airs tonight.
Created by Kate Atkinson, Helen Gregory, and Jennifer Schuur, the drama follows a game of cat and mouse between private investigator, Alice Vaughan (Mireille Enos), and the man she loves, the elusive con artist, Benjamin Jones (Peter Krause). The cast also includes Jay Hayden, Jacky Ido, Rose Rollins, Sonya Walger, Elvy Yost, and John Simm.
Unlike Shonda Rhimes’ series that have also aired on Thursday nights, The Catch has never pulled in strong ratings. Even after extensive retooling as a romantic comedy, season two has been averaging a poor 0.68 rating in the 18-49 demo and only 3.32 million viewers, making it one of ABC‘s lowest-rated series for the 2016-2017 season.
Produced by Shonda Rhimes and Betsy Beers, The Catch was supposedly a favorite of ABC boss Channing Dungey. Unfortunately, that wasn’t enough to land the low-rated series a third season.

Absolutely love this show! Different from the abundance of cop/crime shows that all follow the same premise! Exciting, funny and well acted. A third season is a must, even if only to bring it to a conclusion for it’s fans.

I definitely think that they should rethink their decision. It was an amazing show, and I’m upset by the fact that it wasn’t given a longer run time! Maybe bring it back for a farewell episode?
I love this show – I don’t think ABC did a good job of advertising it. BRING IT BACK IN A BETTER TIME SLOT.
I liked it a lot. It was different and funny as well as serious. 3rd series would be good

The catch is one of the best I’ve been watching. And now talks about cancelation. That’s just not on.. it is well scripted, well played, everyone plays the part brilliantly, watched it every week here in France. Instant depression. If it’s canceled .. … Whats going to happen next… ????
