It looks like The Catch has failed to catch on. The ABC TV series has been cancelled after two seasons. The defacto series finale airs tonight.
Created by Kate Atkinson, Helen Gregory, and Jennifer Schuur, the drama follows a game of cat and mouse between private investigator, Alice Vaughan (Mireille Enos), and the man she loves, the elusive con artist, Benjamin Jones (Peter Krause). The cast also includes Jay Hayden, Jacky Ido, Rose Rollins, Sonya Walger, Elvy Yost, and John Simm.
Unlike Shonda Rhimes’ series that have also aired on Thursday nights, The Catch has never pulled in strong ratings. Even after extensive retooling as a romantic comedy, season two has been averaging a poor 0.68 rating in the 18-49 demo and only 3.32 million viewers, making it one of ABC‘s lowest-rated series for the 2016-2017 season.
Produced by Shonda Rhimes and Betsy Beers, The Catch was supposedly a favorite of ABC boss Channing Dungey. Unfortunately, that wasn’t enough to land the low-rated series a third season.
What do you think? Are you a fan of The Catch? Do you think ABC should’ve renewed the series for a third season?

Figures that a show with a clever plot, and interesting characters with good chemistry (and clothes) gets cancelled. I guess ABC will fill the time slot with another reality show and I will tune in to Amazon or Netflix.
I’m from Israel and in my opinion this is an excellent and interesting series and I hope you will have a third season !!!
Really liked the show. Sorry to see it ending. It was probably in the wrong time slot
I loved the shows. I taped every show. I hate it when you get interested in shows and then it’s cancelled. Shame on you all of you
Why didn’t ABC try another time slot? This is a great show. I agree with the other posts here, I am so tired of reality shows and crime drama shows. The Catch reminded me of Castle, which ABC was also dumb enough to cancel.
NOOOOOO I am soooo upset they cancelled the catch! I love this show! There are way too many cliffhangers to cancel it so soon… 🙁
I love this show! Very clever storyline, great writing and acting. ABC cancels some of it’s very best shows. I haven’t committed to an ABC show in a couple of years, but this one was worth. I don’t understand why they do this.
Seriously so disappointed this show is cancelled. I’m actually in denial. I love this show so much, the twists and turns, great acting, the storyline is actually unique and clever and I am going to miss it tremendously! I have to know where Ben Margot and Tessa go! How does Ben go after Rys?! What’s going to happen to tommy? Ethan and Alice?! Seriously need some closure here before they cancel it
How about switching the time slot with Greys Anatomy or Scandal and I’ll bet you, you won’t have to worry about the ratings. Shame on you for giving up on The Catch. Great story line not to mention the awesome actors. Everyone of them make the show so much fun to watch. Please give them another chance. Too many people I know are disappointed to hear about this news and hope this is just a rumor. Thankyou
Hi,
Me and my mum enjoyed The Catch a lot!
It was our thing to watch while drinking wine 🙂
Please, make some more seasons:)

Sad, sad,sad…..I love this series
I would like to see the catch return for season three. This show is creative sexy and funny and far better than many shows on TV these days.
Super upset. Loved this show. Keep it. Literally give it a chance to thrive.
As usual I really like a show and of course it runs a season or two and gets cancelled. If ABC would have made this show more than 10 episodes each season it would have gotten higher ratings. It was a quality show with interesting characters and an ever changing story line. I’m done with ABC. Scandal will be gone after one more season and I gave Grey’s Anatomy maybe one more season too as Ellen Pompeo was barely on this season. Yet they leave HTGAWM on. You blew it on this one ABC, The Catch was the most refreshing… Read more »
I LOVE The Catch. I am surprised it was cancelled, and am very disappointed. I loved it.
