New Original Primetime Series Debuts Sunday, August 14 on Hallmark Channel
Please be advised that Hallmark Channel’s newest original primetime series ‘CHESAPEAKE SHORES’ will premiere on Sunday, August 14 (9pm ET/PT, 8C). Based on the novels of the same name by New York Times bestselling author Sherryl Woods, the series stars Jesse Metcalfe (“Dallas“), Meghan Ory (“Once Upon A Time“), Golden Globe(R) nominee Treat Williams (“Everwood,” “Hair”) and Academy Award(R) nominee Diane Ladd (“Wild At Heart”).
The multi-generational family drama follows Abby O’Brien (Ory), a high-powered career woman, divorcee and mother to twin daughters, who makes a trip from New York City to her hometown of Chesapeake Shores. Her visit home brings Abby face to face with her past, including her high school sweetheart Trace (Metcalfe), her uncompromising father Mick (Williams) and her esteemed grandmother Nell (Ladd). Abby realizes the toll her career has taken on her ability to be a hands-on mother to her daughters, and considers a permanent move to Chesapeake Shores.

This series looks very interesting from the preview I’ve seen. Can’t wait to start watching it!
This show was no way filmed on the shores of the Chesapeak Bay. It smells of a dried california location. I have a place on the bay. I went there today to wash down my pier and check on my crab pots. Hallmark dont insult the people of Maryland by filming it on a small lake with dry trees sparsely located on a dry hilly background.
Actually filmed in B.C. just like Cedar Cove. I watched the premier but it just didn’t hold my attention. Just another thing to get into and have it abruptly cancelled. Don’t understand why Hallmark ended Cedar Cove like they did. The could have gone the Signed, Sealed, Delivered route and turned it into several 2-hour films just to tie it all up.
I hope the time between seasons are shorter on Chesapeake Shores than they were on Cedar Cove. Was very sad that Cedar Cove was canceled. Hope Hallmark learned a lesson.
Want to watch but afraid to get involved in the show. Will probably be cancelled like Cedar Cove.
Very excited to see what happens…
I guess I’ll watch this show. However what I don’t appreciate is the fact that the show is supposed to be based on a town in Maryland, but the show is filmed in Canada. Being a Marylander all of my life and living in Southern Maryland, I find it rather insulting. Why call the show “Chesapeake Shores” when the show isn’t even really filmed in Maryland? Maryland and especially the shores of the Chesapeake, is such a beautiful place. I find it rather hard to believe they would not want to shoot the actual show here. Such a disappointment.
It was filmed in my town on Vancouver Island. It’s a financial thing, the cost of filming in Canada is substantially lower than in the US. The American dollar is very strong here, plus BC has many tax credits.
The series is based on a series of books called Chesapeake Shores and the books took place there. It seems natural that Hallmark would adopt the same name. Having read and enjoyed all the books, that name is certainly what drew me to the series. Don’t think there’s any reason for people from Maryland to be insulted. I think the atmosphere and story line actually promote the Bay.
Agreed but B.C. looks NOTHING like the Chesapeake Bay!
It sounds interesting but I am reluctant to invest my time in a series that may be cancelled before loose ends are tied up (Cedar Cove!)
Very excited to watch chesapeake Shores need movie like this although I really miss cedar Cove, maybe this movie will help lol can’t wait to see 🙂
I would love to watch the new series, however, I won’t allow myself a second let-down from Hallmark after the cancellation of Cedar Cove without an ending finale. So many saddened viewers.
I’ve been following the O’Brien family from the start. Looking forward to the Hallmark series.
Can’t wait for it, have read the series and love it
I love the book series and looking forward to seeing the show. I know scripts can’t be as detailed as books can, but if the basic plot and relationships with characters follow the general plot and progression of storyline, it just might be a hit. I read that author Sherryl Woods is consulting and she’s an awesome storyteller. It will be interesting to see the actors/actresses portraying the characters in show and comparing to what my imagination of what I envisioned while reading the books. Not to mention the town’s scenery and setup.
Can’t wait
My Mom and I will try it but after the Cedar Cove disaster I hesitate to get too excited.
I have really liked most of the Hallmark series in the past, so I’ll be sure to give it a try.
