It’s the end of the road for Copper on BBC America. The cable channel has announced that the show has been cancelled after two seasons. The cancellation comes following the show’s modest ratings.
In a statement, BBC America GM Perry Simon said, “The opportunity to work with Tom Fontana, Barry Levinson, Will Rokos, Thomas Kelly and the extraordinary cast and crew on this journey is one that we are extremely proud of.”
He continued, “Their vision to retell the immigrant experience through the melting pot of New York City was an original and fresh idea that melded well with the essence of BBC America’s programming. After 23 episodes, with Lincoln dead and the nation starting to heal, it seems a fitting moment to conclude this American story.”
The de facto series finale will air this Sunday. It’s called “The Place I Called My Home.”
What do you think? Are you sorry to hear there won’t be a third season of Copper? How would you have ended the series?
This series was absolutely brilliant…everything about it, from the sets to the acting to the storylines. I was enthralled. Real shame and a terrible waste to discontinue it just as it got going.
I still miss it too. I still wish we could get it back again.
I still miss it.
Dam! I really liked this show. Seems like every time I find a show I like, they cancel it. I am really bummed 🙁
The last episode was really boring and maybe why it was cancelled…..they should have went out with a BANG, BANG like shoot out with the mob.
Copper is a wonderful show. The problem is there isn’t a lot of press on these streaming shows. Hell on Wheels, Peaky Blinder, Justified are also shows I never heard of before. I found them like I did Copper just looking for something to watch. And they are all great! These series should just continue on because eventually people will find them through word of mouth. Television is finally great again because of shows like Copper.
Why, why, why are the best shows always cancelled?? This is a fabulous look into early America, how the immigrants were treated and how they survived. Huge mistake to cancel this super, great series!!!!
One of the best historical entertainment series ever broadcasted. I can’ t believe it wasn’t continued…It should be brought back, even if in the rumored movie edition.
We want this series back. A very good show.
I just don’t understand why a great show like this gets canceled. There was so much more to tell. Big Big mistake!
They just don’t know what to do when they get a good show….This was supposed to be one of the best of BBC America shows….Happens everytime a really good show is out there….boardroom idiots!!
I agree totally. We even started a fb group that tried to save the show. BBCA has done this more than once! I try not to watch their shows now because of how they treat their viewers!
Yes this show is a very great show with a great cast!! The whole plot takes you back in time I sure hope they decide to work on season three ..
Great series, wish there were more to come !!!!
Why do networks cancel such good shows? They certainly have not finished this story. They could have at least let Corky deliver Eva’s baby. I would have liked them to become a family.
this is such a good show one of the best I’ve seen in a longtime. I rly hope that Netflix will take the hint and start the show up again but also continue it the way it was
