NBC has made a schedule change for the final Sunday of May sweeps, May 18th. The network has replaced Crisis and Believe with an encore of The Women of SNL.
While the Sunday night dramas haven’t been officially cancelled yet, they surely will be. Being pulled from the schedule during the sweeps period — replaced by a rerun of a clipshow, no less — is a very bad sign. The move isn’t a surprise though. Both Crisis and Believe have been performing terribly in the ratings.
Crisis is averaging a meager 1.1 in the 18-49 demographic with 4.48 million viewers. Believe is averaging a 1.3 in the demo with 5.45 million. Both shows drew a 1.0 in the demo this past Sunday and have each dropped below a ratings point in the past few weeks.
Both shows were already off the schedule this Sunday and are now expected to return on Sunday, May 25th. They each have 13 episodes in their respective seasons. Eight episodes of Crisis and nine episodes of Believe have aired so far.
Hopefully NBC will run all of the episodes. Hoepfully the finales will cap the series in satisfying ways. Unless there’s some kind of miracle, neither of these shows will be returning for a second season.
What do you think? If you were running the network, would you cancel both of these shows? Do you think one is better than the other?
Honestly, both shows need to go. Crisis started of well and has gradually gone down hill in almost every aspect with most significant being the acting quality. Storyline isnt hard to follow but just plain tiresome. As far as Believe, this is by far and just my opinion but has to be one of the worst shows I’ve ever seen. I will admit that I do watch it weekly to see if it gets any better and it continues to disappoint. This show might have stood a chance if Fox hadnt ruined us with Touch. True not the same but… Read more »
Crisis seems to have done the exact opposite – in my opinion, it’s going uphill. Sure, the story isn’t really what I expected at all, but it’s still good. The good news is that apparently the season will end with ‘closure.’ Believe on the other hand wasted its potential. The pilot was pretty cool – the dialogue was quick and actually funny at times, the moment when Bo did that scream-y thing was awesome, and the hitman lady (hitwoman?) was actually really cool, because she was evil yet you could even like her character by the end of the episode.… Read more »
i love crisis at least let the fans see the end of it please
I am also annoyed when shows get cancelled that have barely had a chance, but honestly, Believe had to go. I watched five episodes, and it could have been the same episode. They are constantly being chased, and the the little girl risks their lives by helping someone. It was just the same over and over.
I’ve posted here before in the hopes that all network gods start to listen to the people. I’d like to know exactly how they are coming up with their ‘viewing’ numbers. TV shows are available in a variety of locations & times so monitoring who is watching a show live doesn’t cut it anymore!!!! So update your technology & start monitoring who might be watching your shows the next day/week/month–then make an INFORMED decision about canceling shows
They do take into account DVR numbers but I think they are limited to 7 days so my numbers would seldom get acknowledged because I usually watch my shows in sets of 3. On pilots I usually wait for at least a month to watch the first show because some shows are yanked after 4 or less episodes and I do not want to waste my time.
It’s pretty clear in some situations that the numbers are very wrong – for example, The Vampire Diaries averages about 2.5 million viewers on the CW, yet their Facebook page has over 20 million likes. Even if only half of that 20 million was watching, the numbers would still be way off. Somebody needs to either end the Nielsen ratings or make an effort to put a Nielsen ‘box’ in every home. If you go to some online streaming sites, they’ll show whats being often watched and most of the shows being watched are low-rated shows like Killer Women, Crisis,… Read more »
I think Believe is a great show! I hate when they cancel good shows after get invested in them, especially if they do it mid season. Who cares about the Women of the SNL. I won’t be watching that for sure!
Keep both shows and move them to another day. The tv networks are canceling good shows but keep these reality tv shows. When is the trend of reality tv shows going to end.
Okai this gotta be total BS !! Why cancelle a new show that just came out not even a freaking month ago for reruns of another show? Thats stupid all because of ratings? Well hello you only air the show once at 11pm most people are usually in bed by that yime because of work nd such. Like seriously dont cancelle Crisis its the best show going,
I love Believe!
Believe is a fantastic show! It’s more character based than action based and it has more heart and spirit than most TV shows these days! It relies strongly on powerful characters and themes rather than on explosions, cliffhangers, and spontaneous outbursts of shooting people (which describes a major portion of modern TV shows). I hope they renew Believe! If they don’t, they’ll probably be re-airing it years later down the road when they realize that people love the show and have just been watching it based on their personal schedules. TV ratings are outdated and are not always the best… Read more »
These two shows are really good. The problem is that NBC is putting them up against the wrong shows. Move them to Wednesday night. Give it another try rase!
Move them to whenever day or slot but please, bring them back!!!
Both Believe and Crisis are good shows. If I had to choose it would be to keep Believe. One thing to take notice Sunday is HBO’s night for Game of Thrones. Is there a way to see how many people DVR the NBC shows. Neilson ratings or whatever ratings they use are not accurate if shows are DVR recorded.
I DVR all my series and movies so I can watch them by skipping commercials.
This is ridiculous! Why do they keep awful reality shows on and cancel anything good? Are they not monitoring the people that watch the shows on Hulu? I don’t get cable where I live so I have to watch shows the day after they’ve aired on Hulu or online. I haven’t seen Crisis so I don’t know about that show. I really like Believe though, the characters work well together and it’s a different story line. It shows compassion for others so I guess networks would rather have shows with no story or plot and terrible actors than something good. I… Read more »
To cancel two interesting series in favor of an encore of The Women of SNL.
Who gives a flying F! about the women of snl.
Well, NBC made the decision for me. I was about to stop watching Believe. Never watched Crisis, so have no opinion there.
Believe is a great show. The problem is Sunday night. If I were the network I would have moved it to Wednesday or Thursday night.
It’s getting annoying to start watching a series then have it cancelled.
Unlike everyone else, I didn’t watch Believe but I do watch Crisis and really enjoy it. And I agree… I’m tired of NBC getting us all interested in a series and then POOF! it’s gone. They did that to Crossing Lines, as well. Sick of NBC anyway. If they cancel Crisis, that’ll mean that all I watch on that station is Dateline (and stop saying the one on Saturday is new… it isn’t) and Days of our lives.
One thing – NBC dropped Crossing Lines but Crossing Lines did finish and get a second season in its home country of France. You could find it online.
