NBC has made a schedule change for the final Sunday of May sweeps, May 18th. The network has replaced Crisis and Believe with an encore of The Women of SNL.
While the Sunday night dramas haven’t been officially cancelled yet, they surely will be. Being pulled from the schedule during the sweeps period — replaced by a rerun of a clipshow, no less — is a very bad sign. The move isn’t a surprise though. Both Crisis and Believe have been performing terribly in the ratings.
Crisis is averaging a meager 1.1 in the 18-49 demographic with 4.48 million viewers. Believe is averaging a 1.3 in the demo with 5.45 million. Both shows drew a 1.0 in the demo this past Sunday and have each dropped below a ratings point in the past few weeks.
Both shows were already off the schedule this Sunday and are now expected to return on Sunday, May 25th. They each have 13 episodes in their respective seasons. Eight episodes of Crisis and nine episodes of Believe have aired so far.
Hopefully NBC will run all of the episodes. Hoepfully the finales will cap the series in satisfying ways. Unless there’s some kind of miracle, neither of these shows will be returning for a second season.
What do you think? If you were running the network, would you cancel both of these shows? Do you think one is better than the other?
I like Crisis. NBC has cancelled every show that I like lately.
Crisis and Believe didn’t stand a chance with the lead in they gave them. There was an awards show or something on each time to compete, not to mention everyone I know never watches live. So this makes the numbers horrible. Not happy .
Move Crisis to Tuesday night and Believe to Wednesday give them both a different time slot and day and then see what happens
They are both great shows especially Belive. NBC should not cancelled these shows.
When are TV people going to move into the 21’st century? The ratings game, as played, is a joke. Now you have to tally ALL the ways that a program is watched to get a true indication of how popular it is. There are millions of us out here who ONLY watch TV online. We do not watch the night of broadcast. If you don’t count us, your numbers are completely wrong. This means that some very popular shows get low ratings – even though millions more than counted actually watch online. Please – all you network “brains” – use… Read more »
They are both good shows…crisis could divert into so many stories…as in a new crisis each season. I have liked several nbc shows that they have yanked…think lm gonna quit watching them until they make it to a 2nd season…then maybe catch up on Netflix or something.
Believe is an excellently written show with a warm emotionality – the actors interactions are also excellent. This one can find a loyal audience!
I love believe. I really hope they give it a shot. They pull things so fast nowadays people don’t get a chance to find it. Try another day if sunday isn’t working. Please don’t cancel believe!
I love the show Believe. The actresses that plays the girl is wonderful.
Nooo, i love this show and it along with Resurrection, walking dead and once upon a time make my Sunday nights!!!
I am sure NBC is smart enough to know they just have to change the night for Believe to succeed. Believe is a great story of a young girl and her father who help people. I wish Bo could speak to the heads of NBC.
I have never watched Crisis. The acting and writing for Believe were really just now starting to get into a good groove but shows like this have no staying power on Network TV. One of the definitions of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. How much longer are they going to keep cancelling shows to replace them with next year’s cancelled shows before they realize this system just does not work anymore? If I were going to introduce a new show next fall I would do a show over the summer that was… Read more »
I love both these shows and I think that they would have done great as summer shows it gives viewers something to watch while other shows are on break and less competition why not move them to summer and bring in some extra cash while ur at it….instead of jumping the gun and canceling them…..and u can’t judge a series 8 episodes in when its going against shows that have been on for months….
NBC doesn’t know what they’re doing nowadays. Believe is a great show and I haven’t watched Crisis but I’ve heard that is a good show as well. They’ll probably end up having more lame reality shows now. NBC never has any good shows anyways so I guess I’m not surprised they’re canceling the only good shows they have. I love Parks and rec but other than that NBC sucks!! I hope they at least play out the rest of Believe’s season.
I love both shows Believe and Crisis and I was totally upset to see them pulled this week. It’s time the networks at least gave shows an opportunity to wrap up in a way that brings the show to a close. This dropping shows mid-season just makes me wonder whether to even watch season 1 of shows in case they disappear right when they are getting interesting
NBC needs to give these shows a chance. Especially Believe! Move it to another time or whatever, just give it a chance. It’s a great concept and very entertaining. This and NCIS is the only 2 shows I watch. If you want to put it on opposite NCIS I still choose Believe!
Believe is a great show, with fascinating scripts, excellent actors, and potential to really take off. I think it’s time period is a problem, not the show itself. Perhaps the Network should… Believe… enough in its ownself,
and let new shows last long enough to find their audience!
I’ve not seen Crisis, so can’t comment.
