Although there was never really any doubt, CBS has officially cancelled its Doubt TV show. There will be no second season of the legal drama, which went unmentioned (as expected), when CBS announced its schedule for the 2017-18 television season.
Starring Katherine Heigl as attorney Sadie Ellis, Doubt premiered in February to particularly low ratings for a new CBS drama, and was quickly pulled after just two episodes aired. The CBS TV series also starred Dulé Hill as Albert Cobb, Elliot Gould as Isaiah Roth; Laverne Cox as Cameron Wirth; Dreama Walker as Tiffany Simon; Kobi Libii as Nick Brady; and Steven Pasquale as Dr. Billy Brennan.
Doubt: A Look at the Ratings
The Doubt TV series premiere garnered a mere 0.76 rating in the 18-49 demographic and drew only 5.31 million viewers. This second episode drew a 0.60 and 4.03 million, respectively. Overall, the first season of Doubt averaged a 0.68 rating in the demo and an average audience of 4.67 million. Those numbers just don’t stack up against the other CBS TV shows.
Doubt: Will CBS Air All of Season One?
So far, CBS has not said if they would burn off the remaining episodes this summer. Only the first two are currently available for viewing on CBS.com. If the network announces it will run the rest of the 13 episodes which make up the first season, we will let you know.
About Doubt
The first season of this TV show drama centers on Sadie, a gifted lawyer. She represents pediatric surgeon Billy Brennan, who was recently accused of murdering his girlfriend, 24 years ago. Sadie develops feelings for him and has to hide them from everyone, including her close friend and colleague, Albert Cobb.
Getting involved with Billy could jeopardize Sadie’s career and happiness, particularly if he is guilty. She must work all the harder to prove reasonable doubt, even while she has some doubts of her own.
What do you think? Did you watch the first two episodes of Doubt? Do you think CBS should have given it more than two episodes, before cancelling it
Why did you cancel a great show. My husband and I both think it’s gotten better each week. The cast were a great fit and we wish you would please bring it back.
Hate to see this show cancelled…I believe it gave some good courtroom stories and I thought the cast was great. Always think Dule Hill gives a good performance but it appears he will be in the Suits series from now on…
Great show! Why cancel
Good show and keep the junk!
Please don’t cancel the show. We love it.
I love Katherine Heigl, but this show is terrible. Put her in a well written show and it will really take off!
I feel sorry for Katherine Heigl. She and this show which could have been a superior Series were both the victim of another pitiful attempt at appeasing every gender, quasi-gender, etc. and race for the sake of political correctness at the expense of an otherwise good show. Don’t get me wrong- there is nothing wrong with the placement of real-life people of every gender and race but when you select actors to portray those individuals who are horrid performers and you do so at the expense of performances, you FAIL. That is exactly what happened here. So unfortunate.
Would we love to see this show renewed
yes
Would be great if CBS could air the rest of season 1 or make it available online! First 2 episodes really drew me in, I want to know whether Billy is innocent or guilty!
I really liked the first 2 episodes. I would love to see the rest of the episodes. I think Katherine Heigl is very good in this. I am a fan of hers. Too many of the shows I like are being cancelled. Very disappointing. What is going on CBS ?
I’m a Katherine Heigl fan. I watched the first 2 episodes and think the cancellation of the series was premature. I am hoping CBS will make available for viewing the rest of the already-produced 13 episodes in the near future.
I hope they at least play the rest of the episodes of season 1 or put them online so ppl that wasn’t too watch them can, it’s ******** if they don’t. Seems like most good shows get canceled or pulled before ppl can even get into the show but they leave all these stupid reality shows and competition shows on for years, it’s ridiculous.
I would like to see the rest of the season. What have they got to lose?
It really makes me made they didn’t give an amazing show the chance it deserved. You can’t expect to air 2 episodes and expect a huge following or ratings. Let it play out and I bet the #s wouldve improved. CBS is making horrible decisions lately!!
Worst show/idea of last season. Doomed from the start.
I thought it was pretty good. Two episodes isn’t really enough to get aquatinted with the characters and develop a relationship. It should have run the full season.
I watched the first 2 episodes, and thought it was a good show. That’s probably why it was cancelled.
I really like it-please don’t cancel!Get some more good legal shows – my faves!
