A couple days ago, Eastwick series creator and executive producer Maggie Friedman said that she was “furious” over ABC’s cancellation of the series. She’s apparently had some time to think about her choice of words and regrets the statement.
Friedman wrote, “The other day, when we were discussing the cancellation of Eastwick, I misspoke in the worst possible way. The word ‘furious’ was poorly chosen by me. You had said to me that ‘the fans are understandably furious’ and so I agreed that I was too, but the truth is, I’m not.”
She continued, “I see that word now in print attributed to me and it’s very painful, because it seems to imply I am angry with ABC and nothing could be further from the truth. They treated me really well. I am not the least bit furious, with anyone. That’s simply not the kind of person I am. Yes, I’m sad about the show being cancelled, because it was creatively fulfilling and tons of fun to make and an amazing group of people, but I’m not angry.”
What do you think? Are you “furious” with ABC or just “sad” that Eastwick didn’t reach a bigger audience and was cancelled?

I loved the series & am very angry it’s been cancelled! (pretty sure secretly even my boyfriend is disappointed!) I think the CW actually should pick it up…would mesh right in w/ Smvll, Sprntrl, & Vamp. Diaries better anyway 🙂
ABC has made me furious. I LOVE this show! Please don’t cancel it. Other than General Hospital, it’s the only show on your network worth watching.
I hate that Eastwick is being canceled I loved this show. I hope maybe it can be picked up by another network.
I’m really upset with ABC for cancelling Eastwick.
It’s funny, sassy, sexy…..It’s my favorite show and a great escape.
I have to say that if they cancel this show, I will stop watching
anything on ABC all together. I’m tired of getting involved in these
ABC shows and they get cancelled……..everytime.
No more. I go when Eastwick goes.
I’ll be honest and say that from the beginning I thought this show didn’t look very interesting, so I’m not surprised that it’s been canceled (I actually expected it from the first preview of it that I ever saw). I only watched it because of Matt Dallas, and when his character was killed off, I stopped watching.
I understand that in the Business World, furious was not good for her to use because it would hinder her from being hired for another project. However I am furious.
I looked forward to Wednesday Night at 10:00 since the show started. When I saw that it was not on again this week, I looked into why and found out the “BAD” news. The show was fun, interesting and showed us things we “wish”we could do from time to time!!! I also loved the movie. This really….. well you all know and yes the word furious comes to mind. The show left me wanting more!!!
Ding Dong someone has finally killed the witches. This proves hopefully that the claims of ABC Wednesday night shows being great have now been proven wrong .This show was nothing more than a bad rrehash of Desperate housewives and if we’re very lucky that show will be “Burned at the stake.”
I am beyond furious!! I love the show and do not think it was advertised as much as it should have been. If I see another ‘V’ advertisement I am going to SCREAM!! Give the show another chance ABC!!! It is worth it.
I love this show! It’s a nice change from the shows about doctors, police and spoiled rich kids. Hopefully ABC will change their mind or better yet have another station pick it up.
Although, I was saddened by ABC’s decision, I was not surprised. The bottom line is that it was taking too long for them to discover their powers and for the story line to unravel. The actresses were excellent and so for the lead male “Guru” who resembled Jack Nicholas, which is a tough act to follow. Great concept, but I blame the writers who dragged on and on and on with the same old drab of discovering their powers, show after show, I grew more gray hair just thinking about, whats next… I do believe the show should be given… Read more »
I like the show alot i thought it was fun and entertaining.
I am so furious and its because the networks are so quick to cancel shows without even allowing the show to grow and get going and to attrack an audience. They don’t even try changing the time slot or anything! Its just an immediate cancellation without any consideration for thir devoted viewers. Its getting ridiculous and we are stuck with the stupidest shows especially reality ones and its getting so I’m afraid to even watch t.v. anymore and get attached to any show because I know it’ll be gone. They could at least try to move the show to another… Read more »
I love this show. Great cast, creative writing, tons of entertainment.
I don’t care if they move it, as long as they keep it.
Or sell the rights to someone else who will continue with writers and cast.
Here’s an online petition to save it:

I am deeply disappointed. This show is different than the same old crime drama or sit com. It needs time to develop an audience. I have told friends about the show, but they won’t watch it because they know it has been canceled. Give the show a chance.
