Fans of Ugly Betty just got some (possibly) good news. ABC is moving the dramedy to Wednesday nights at 10pm. Unfortunately, that’s spells bad news for fans of cancelled Eastwick.
Eastwick has had a tough time of it and has never quite found a wide audience. The show and its cast — including Rebecca Romijn, Lindsay Price, Jaime Ray Newman, Paul Gross, Ashley Benson, Johann Urb, Jon Bernthal, Sara Rue, and Veronica Cartwright — have become popular with a devout group of viewers but it’s just not big enough to keep the show on the air.
The show was effectively cancelled last month when ABC opted to not order any additional episodes beyond the initial 13 installments.
Eastwick executive producer, Maggie Friedman, said that this would mean that many show storylines would go unresolved. On the positive side though, it seemed like ABC was committed to airing all of the episodes.

Unfortunately, it now appears that ABC has decided to pull the show off the air before the run is completed. Ugly Betty will take over the Eastwick timeslot on January 6th, bumping the last two episodes of the supernatural series from the schedule.
For now, it seems that the network has no plans to air the final installments of Eastwick. If ABC history is any indication, fans may have to wait until the summer months to see them — ala Dirty Sexy Money and Eli Stone. If not, then they’ll be able to find them on DVD, if there is one.

Can’t everyone see what ABC is doing to the epodic shows that have come and gone recently? They are creating little short term endearments but never planning to have them go beyond it’s initial season. Hence, “LIFE ON MARS”, “EASTWICK”, “Nightstalker”, (a not on ABC network but I loved) “MOONLIGHT”, “DIRTY,SEXY, MONEY” was great! Great actors…who played that Jeromy? he was a doll. My point is, what the heck is up with this archaic network and it’s producers? ABC SUCKS!!!! Whatever happened to giving a show a chance. If they don’t make the top 10 the first week they’re cancelled. I love this show! Just like Lipstick Jungle & Sunset 60, get people involved in the characters and cancel it. I agree the last episodes should be online.
I been watching this show everr since it stated, and seeing it now being canceled despites me. When i first started to watch this show i was like, ” this is going to be like “charmed”(one of my favorite seris ever)” And in a way it was. So i begun watching eastwick evrey airing. “Charmed” was on for about eight years or so, and when it ended i knew there was not going to be another show like this. This is the third time ABC has done this to me… I loved “Nightstalker” and that got pulled in the middle of a two part episode! I loved “The Nine”, that got pulled as well… And against my better judgement, I decided to try Eastwick because I loved Charmed and thought it could be ok, but I was cautious… I should have listened to my instincts… This show is really wonderful and they are pulling it… AGAIN!!!! I am making this public promise that I will NEVER watch another ABC ahow again.. NEVER!!!!
that is sad. i really liked that show. this is one reason why i don’t like abc. they drop good shows.
couldent they try to have another network that is more suited for the kind of show pick it up, space perhaps? some sort of si phi network?
This show is one of the worst I have had to endure that my wife begged me to watch. It was so juvenile and unimaginative. I am glad its canceled, now only if they could cancel Ugly Betty too. I hope they do move it to lifetime or some other chick network; where it belonged in the first place. But I also wouldn’t mind if it just died right where it is. I think that if a network cancels a series that they should put the unaired episodes online for fans to view. Eastwick is one of my favs, all of the actors have done a great job and I will be sad to see the show go. I have an idea, how about ABC could add a short interview with some of the actors about where the writers were going to go with the show and what they would have liked to see happen to the witches of Eastwick.
I think the only way we’ll see the last episodes of eastwick is if Lifetime or some other more intelligent network picks it up. I have my fingers crossed , this is the one t.v. show that my husband and I watch together faithfully. Leave it to ABC to do something dumb . I cannot believe they are putting Ugly Betty on in Eastwicks place gooooooooooood grief. I was a huge fan of Charmed and I absolutely love Eastwick blah seems like they kill the good stuff and leave the crap .
If the track record of ABC is any indication, they will likely not air the remaining episodes. Ditto for Defying Gravity and any number of other shows that, despite a dedicated following, just don’t have the numbers that they were looking for. It’s a shame that a severe lack of promotion on the part of a network with the prestige of ABC leads to the demise of great shows like Eastwick and Defying Gravity… and that’s just the 2009 rundown of dead shows. I watched tonight’s episode Tea and Psychopathy. I hope AbC got a higher rating because I watched it live. I hope you did also. Let’s make an effort to watch the episodes live, maybe this will save our show.
I love this show. I can’t believe they wont air the last 2 episodes!! I’m sooo going to miss this, just like I miss “Dirty Sexy Money”. The cast is soo wonderful and are all great actors!…. why, oh why ABC must you cancel great shows?????????
I know, not only do they not support the show at all,(ABC), they do not promote it properly. They wait for any little excuse to try and take it off. It’s ratings are average(and would be more if it be promoted properly), but they decide to not order additional episodes. THEN they decide they will move UGLY BETTY, which does LIKE REALLY BAD compared to eastwick, in eastwick’s time slot. Please, please, please keep this show on!!!! It’s one of the best new dramas on TV. I love the plot line and all the charactors. How can they cancel it after tonite’s episode??

It’s not like Ugly Betty couldn’t have waited 2 more episodes. They could have at least switched it so Eastwick was moved to Friday. I am going to miss this show. Just because it’s a lighthearted show with supernatural story lines people who are expecting these award-winning mega dramas don’t give it the time of day. The characters are likeable, it’s an interesting spin on a unique old movie, its a shame that they can’t even finish the 13 episodes. Well I hope the network enjoys the extra few dollars they might make from cancelling the show.
