Like many of the shows on the UPN and the WB, the recently-announced network merger has left Everwood fans hanging. With only half as much airtime to fill, execs at the new CW network have some tough choices to make. Shows like Veronica Mars, Gilmore Girls and Smallville seem like a shoe-in for return but a show like Everwood has a less than certain fate.
The first CW schedule won’t be released for quite awhile but the future doesn’t look promising for the drama series for a couple reasons. Everwood hasn’t shown great numbers and has been off the air for months. The latter is in part due to the fact that reruns of the show typically don’t do well in the ratings. In addition, Everwood creator Greg Berlanti recently signed a three-year production deal with competing studio Disney. Though he’ll be busy with other projects, Berlanti reportedly expressed hope that the show will see a fifth season.
Fortunately for viewers, Executive Producer Rina Mimoun isn’t taking chances. It’s been said that she’s preparing two alternate scripts for this season’s final show — a season finale and a series finale — so that show fans won’t be left hanging if the show doesn’t return.
The Treat Williams drama is scheduled to return to the WB airwaves on March 27, 2006 with the remaining new episodes of the 2005-06 season.
My family and I have enjoyed watching Everwood. This was truly a family program something that we don’t have enough of. Why would you cancel this show, does the family matter? Please reconsider.
My son and I have been watching Everwood from the very first episode. It has given us a night to spend together and has made us talk and discuss some very big issues that can come up in a teenagers life. We are both devastated that this show is coming to an end. It has given us great entertainment and has been one of the best shows we have ever seen. We are praying that the network reconsiders and will bring this wonderful family drama back. And if not, then they will have lost a couple of great viewers.
I am heartbroken to hear Everwood is being cancelled.
This show deals with evry subject taste fully. My best friend Sheir of over 30 years and I love to talk the next day about Everwood. Please keep it on.

I am totally devastated by the news of Everwood having a “SERIES FINALE”! I can not believe that they would cancel such an awesome show. I can not tell you how many times I’ve cried watching this show. I think we should all write someone and try to stop them from cancelling it.
I was saddened to learn that Everwood is being cancelled. I hope that like 7th Heaven Everwood will be renewed. In our opinion these are the best shows on TV. I am sad to say that there is nothing in the entertainment category that I am interested in as it is mostly silliness or trash. So I will be forced to switch to the cabel news networks or the History channel.

I can’t believe that Everwood is being cancelled – how come all the really good, interesting shows get cancelled and not the rubbish thats on. Keep changing the time slot and re-runs and then its not on for several weeks how do you expect to build up an audience. May as well throw the TV out and not have to pay to watch anymore. I can not beleive that u are taking everwood off either.I am a middle aged woman, and I am hooked on this program every monday night I am there at 9:00 to watch it. I could not beleive it when I watched it last night and it said series finale. Truly disappointing, should have more program on like this and less reality tv.
I cant believe you are taking Everwood off the air. It is a shame that this show is being cancelled.
A really life happening that the whole family can watch together and you cancelle it.
What are you thinking?Or are you thinking?
Maybe not.
Please save Everwood. Why do you always have great story lines when your getting rid of a program. Everyone has been waiting for him and Nina to get together and now they look like they are. Dang every show I watch gets cancelled! 7th Heaven needs to come back as well.
You’re honestly gonna keep Smallville and One Tree Hill and cancel Everwood??????? Smallville and “Tree” are so geared toward Teenyboppers who are NOT breadwinners and only have money to spend if they are able to beg or borrow or steal from their parents – remember, CW, biting the hand that feeds you may NOT be the wisest course… I was pretty pleased when you decided to renew 7th Heaven, but then turn around and cancel Everwood when it has never stood a chance because of timeslot switches, etc.???? I thought maybe you would fix the problem that WB never seemed… Read more »
Everwood is a quality drama that deserves its chance in the same time slot weekly in order to grow a large audience. The first year, everyone thought it was quality, but would never make it, and did. Then it got shifted around to different timeslots. About the only good quality to Seventh Heaven is the lessons it may teach children, other than that, I could also produce my own version if I drew up a script and read off of a cuecard or tele-prompter, as the actors seem to. It seems odd that they base a show’s return on the… Read more »
Please continue to show Everwood. We love it!

I just want to say that taking Everwood off is a huge disappointment to me. You keep something like One Tree Hill, which while engaging I guess to teens, can’t compare to Everwood in terms of quality. I’ve often called TV the vast wasteland, and with the cancellation of so many good shows, Everwood, Commander in Chief — I know, it’s not a WB show. I’m just making a point — it seems like the few good reasons to watch are disappearing. Huge, huge disappointment. Maybe I’ll chuck the TV into the trash and find other ways to spend time.… Read more »
I like Everwood and 7th Heaven. I don’t think either should be canceled and One Tree Hill should be canceled. That show seems to be a boring spinoff to 90210 that was filmed years earlier.
