Marti Perkins won’t have to worry about how to pay for another year at Lancer University. Hellcats has been cancelled after one season on The CW.
Based on the book Cheer: Inside the Secret World of College Cheerleaders, Hellcats revolves around a pre-law student (Aly Michalka) who must join her university’s cheerleader team to win a scholarship to stay in school. The show also features Ashley Tisdale, Gail O’Grady, Heather Hemmens, Matt Barr, Robbie Jones, and Sharon Leal.
The started off the season back in early September with a 1.2 rating in the 18-49 demographic, a 2.1 rating in the 18-34 female demo and about three million viewers.

Unfortunately, those numbers started to slide pretty quickly and late last month, Hellcats fell as low as a 0.4 in the 18-49 viewers, a 0.7 in the young female demo and fewer than a million viewers.
While it’s not the lowest-rated series on The CW when you look at the season averages, it’s been in a decline all season and showed no signs of turning around.
As a result, the network has decided to cancel Hellcats. All the 22 episodes of the series have aired with the de facto series finale running last night.

This show was very well done. It was a great blend of drama and comedy. It had fantastic story lines and very well done characters. The season ending cliffhanger was perfect, but now that there’s no season 2, it seems pointless. This show has developed a fairly large fanbase and now CW is just going to kick it to the curb without even giving it a second chance. The executive at the CW are the ones that needs to be cancelled, Life unexpected now Hellcats. you know CW the 18-49 women demo aren’t the only ones out here spending money. there is a large segment of the population who voices aren’t been heard by you. stop trying to compete with the other networks you don’t have the programing hours or the money. we don’t you go old school and give these program a chance to find their audience. if you keep cancelling these show people will stop watching your new show from fear of them being cancel once… Read more »
I’m upset that I was cancelled but not surprised. When it was moved to Tuesday it was up against some established shows. It didn’t stand a chance. But the actors and actresses are all very talented and they will move on to new things. Good luck Hellcats
I can’t believe it!! I loved the Hellcats!!!! I’m sooooooo incredibly sad that I won’t be seeing another season. Grrrrrrr.. I can’t believe One Tree Hill made it to another season as I stopped watching it after season 4! And they actually cut Hellcats???? BOOO!!
One of my favourite shows, absolutely gutted there won’t be a season 2. The ratings started to fall drastically when they changed the time slot from Wednesday to Tuesday, so that’s to blame, not the show!
Insane. It would have been nice to have some closure. Guess we will never know what happens with Marty and her dad and sister.
I loved this show! They moved it around which didn’t help at all. Very sad.
Just because some people don’t give the show time and watch it doesn’t mean it should get put off. What about the people who love the show???

Gale Harold was tops in this show. Believe me it could have been better if you had better writers . Same old story line gets boring. When y0u take long brakes . you lose the viewers .
