Marti Perkins won’t have to worry about how to pay for another year at Lancer University. Hellcats has been cancelled after one season on The CW.
Based on the book Cheer: Inside the Secret World of College Cheerleaders, Hellcats revolves around a pre-law student (Aly Michalka) who must join her university’s cheerleader team to win a scholarship to stay in school. The show also features Ashley Tisdale, Gail O’Grady, Heather Hemmens, Matt Barr, Robbie Jones, and Sharon Leal.
The started off the season back in early September with a 1.2 rating in the 18-49 demographic, a 2.1 rating in the 18-34 female demo and about three million viewers.

Unfortunately, those numbers started to slide pretty quickly and late last month, Hellcats fell as low as a 0.4 in the 18-49 viewers, a 0.7 in the young female demo and fewer than a million viewers.
While it’s not the lowest-rated series on The CW when you look at the season averages, it’s been in a decline all season and showed no signs of turning around.
As a result, the network has decided to cancel Hellcats. All the 22 episodes of the series have aired with the de facto series finale running last night.

Seriously? I was really into the Hellcats, and it’s one of the few shows I actually kept up with. I don’t watch alot of tv, and normally it’s rupaul’s dragrace, kitchen nightmares and Hellcats. I hate the whole line of CW shows, and there’s nothing good to watch, but finally there was a drama for my demographic with stuff that was interesting a soapopera for ‘teens’ in away. Im super bummed they are going to cancel the show! it was one of my favs. I know a lot of people who like it . Im really upset by this!
I LOVEDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD THIS SHOW LIKE YOU DONT KNOW HOW MUCH I WAS EVEN TALKING ABOUT IT YESTURDAY AND HOW THEY NEED TO MAKE MORE EPISODES AND NOW ITS CANCELLED….THEY NEEDA PUT IT BACK ON NO JOKE.
IMHO the cancellation is fair enough…don’t get me wrong…it’s watchable, enjoyable even, but it’s nothing special. The acting and screenplay is decent but, at the end of the day, progress of any real substance or meaning is nigh on non-existant.
Nonetheless, it still kicks the crap out of the last season of One Tree Hill…they really should have put the original audience, if any of them still watch it, out of their misery by now.
This is JANK! We should totally write angry letters to the CW. I’m working on that right now!!!!!
SERIOUSLY…Hellcats was great. Had they kept airing it & not pre-empting it all the time, I think the audience would have been so much larger & more interest to keep tuning in. CW u made a BIG ASS mistake! No wonder ur ratings suck!
They really should make a 2nd season. A lot of people I know enjoy hellcats. Even I do. If the first season did not work out “which I DON’T agree because I really loved it” then they should try to make the second season better.
I would hate it if they canceled hellcats because it ended in a very interesting way and I want to see what will happen.
They should NOT cancel “Hellcats, One Tree Hill, 90210, Gossip Girl, VD..”
I really hope they make another season.

The story and characters were JUST starting to become real. I loved the scene with Wanda and Marty talking in the car. The cheering is only SOME of what the story is about. Like Friday Night Lights (only SOME football)…but mostly about the people. The writers were really starting to “reel in” the audience…waiting to see what happened next week! And to leave all the cliff hangers on the last episode!!! What are they thinking…they could really take it into a night time soap everyone gets into…maybe a little less cheering and a little more story. RECONSIDER!!
I am so sick of all the good shows getting canceled and all the crappy shows being kept. It’s not just on the CW, it’s all the networks. At least you all could have tried a different time slot or put it back on Wednesday like it originally was. This is such a good show…Ireally wish you all would reconsider cancelling it!!

they need to bring it back there alot of people that watch it. I record it and watch it went I can witch is hard I have a 9 month the love mickey mouse . I’m starting to hate it. hell cat and a few other show are the only thing I watch for me dam it.
I am absolutely baffeled that you would drop such a good show after one season and especially to let it end that way. Hellcats was one of my favorite shows along with alot of my friends. As some of the other people commented, it was well acted and a good blend of several genres. I too watch alot of CW shows and have been a loyal viewer for years but this decision has left me cold. Seriously?!? How is it they can keep One Tree Hill and Nikita and Supernatural and all these other stupid shows about vampires and witches but they can’t keep one of the few good shows on television that people can actually relate to? Hellcats is an amazing show with a great storyline and I would love to see it continue. Stupid CW!
