There weren’t big ratings for ABC Family’s Huge series so the cable channel has cancelled it after just 10 episodes.
Huge follows a group of seven teenagers who are sent to weight-loss camp with diverse results. The cast includes Nikki Blonsky, Hayley Hasselhoff, Raven Goodwin, Ari Stidham, Ashley Holliday, Harvey Guillen, Stefan Van Ray, Jacob Wysocki, Molly Tarlov, Gina Torres, Zander Eckhouse, Zoe Jarman, and Paul Dooley.
The show debuted to a 0.9 rating in the 18-49 demographic last June with 2.53 million viewers. ABC Family bragged that it was their biggest series launch to date among women 18-49 and second largest in adults 18-49 and women 18-34.

Unfortunately, the numbers started to fall in week two and slowly kept dropping off. By week eight, Huge hit a series low with a 0.5 rating in the demo and 1.34 million viewers. That represents an audience loss of about 45% since the debut. The last episode of the season attracted just a 0.6 rating and 1.45 million total viewers.
Now, according to Deadline, ABC Family has decided to cancel Huge. Unfortunately for the show’s loyal viewers, there won’t be a second season or a true series finale. The last episode aired on August 30th.
The decision to cancel Huge doesn’t really come as a surprise, especially if you look at the great success that ABC Family has been having with other new shows like Pretty Little Liars and Melissa & Joey.
What do you think? Are you sorry to hear that Huge has been cancelled? Why do you think more people didn’t tune in?

I love HUGE <3
I really loved this show, it has inspired me not to be ashamed about myself and have confidence. I am really sad its over, there are few times in life that you can actually say something changed you and pin point the exact moment. I know for me it was watching this show. Thanks for that, but please bring it back!
I am upset to find out they cancelled Huge. I am hoping they read these because they should do season 2. Huge was a great inspiration to me. I finally just got caught up with it because my sister told me about this show and when I started to watch it I could not stop. I really hope they rethink there decision. This show is amazing and helps a lot of us out there.
God damn it !!
why the hell they cancelled it ?
there’s alot of ppl want to see more then one Season like me,
MAN why the good show’s got cancelled and that, well hope they get back
Every week waiting for episodes so badly !!!
This so isn’t fair, I hope another network picks it up. It was really getting good. I loved this show. It really does seem to have a specific target audience but still. HUGE was a really well written show and allowed larger people to feel better about themselves. I’m not a small girl, I have a large bone structure and carry a little junk in my trunk but with this show I felt like it didn’t really matter. GRRR!!! Curse you ABC Family. Bring back Huge!!!
It’s unreal. I LOVED this show.
I was over weight my whole life (size 18-22), About 5 years ago I lost weight and have been a size 8-10 sice then. I still strugle with the emotions of it all, and watching HUGE made me feel not so alone. Yes I know there actors but there are Real People out there going through what they went through ‘What I Went Through’ !
BRING THE SHOW BACK !
I don’t understand it they cancel huge about over weight girls, but they keep teens having babies or like the other comment said about rich girls steeling, murdering. What is up with that?
Melissa and Joey still hasn’t been cancelled, seriously?
I thought I had a chance at auditioning, being a big actor gets you no where now in days. I just don’t think its right that shows like “Pretty Little Liars” and “Life of an American teenager” teach young girls to be spoiled girls who don’t listen to there parents or the one who has baby. Sure the story lines may seem intriguing but those shows just teach teenagers to be terrible people. Not to mention Teen Mom and Jersey Shore, have we completely lost so much of ourselves that we allow our kids to watch these things. Being fat… Read more »
Oh well, poor huge. Peace out Nicki Blonski. Now it’s time to be gettin back to the farm yall! Eatin hay, shucking corn, slaughtering pigs, and last of all milkin cow diddlies!
This is really sad…I just started watching the season and i liked it but now it’s cancelled?
OH rats!
I just found out that HUGE will not be returning. That is such a waste of a truly meaningful show. Well written and superbly acted, it just breaks my heart. I loved those kids. What a shame.
I completely agree. I watch Secret Life of an American Teenager too, & while that show is shallow and boring, this show has a good plot, great actors, and script. It has a real meaning to it & actually shows issues that are big in real life. While I love Pretty Little Liars, it’s not at all realistic, as a teenager, I KNOW, that it’s a fictional show, and as I’ve read the books, I know that there’s a thin chance something like this could actually happen. However, if there’s any way to get HUGE back, I’d help. I regret… Read more »
I really loved Huge. Knowing that I will never watch it again, makes me want to cry. My favorite part of this show, was seeing the relationships build, and form. I was really inspired by Huge. In fact, I have lost 40 pounds, and still going down. I went from a size “busting out of 14”, to a 10. I’m really proud of myself. Huge taught me that I deserved to be happy… It’s ashame that it can’t stay on longer, to inspire more people.
Try reading the book. It’s by Sasha Paley, and maybe you’ll get the same inspirational feeling you got from the tv show. The show is not accacally like the book, but you know the saying: “The book was better”.
ABC family Channel cancels a show about overweight girls who struggle with their body image and hope to find someone to care about them, while struggling with adolescence. They continue airing shows about thin rich girls who lie, cat fight, cheat, steal, murder, and stab each other in the back while wearing skimpy clothes. Typical … and I thought this was a channel for family shows.
I understand your feelings, and at first I kind of felt the way you did…until I learned that the ratings dropped. For a show to stay on the air, the ratings have to stay at a certain level, I assume, or the station can not afford to keep the show on…low ratings probably means less companies wanted to advertise during that time period.
Well, maybe another station will pick up the show…like BET picked up “The Game” from CW.
Really loved Huge. So sad to learn it’s not coming back. This one of the very few shows for which I would have bought the DVD series.
