NBC is all in the family. According to Deadline, the network is developing a multi-camera family comedy titled I Love Lakshmi.
Based on the real life experiences of writer Doug Prochilo, the series will follow the ups and downs of couple Danny and Lakshmi who are starting their own family while also dealing with Lakshmi’s “meddlesome” Indian parents. Muffy Bolding is a co-writer for the project alongside Prochilo.
This is the second NBC pilot in development that is centered on Indian-Americans. The first, Pre-Madonna, comes from Amy Poehler’s Paper Kite Productions and will follow the semi-fictionalized adolescence of filmmaker Nisha Ganatra.
What do you think? Does I Love Lakshmi interest you? Are you glad NBC is developing projects with more diversity?
This is awesome. Not just because it’s fun to have more perspectives on TV but because Nisha Ganatra is an under-appreciated genius. The world will soon see what I mean.
