First Riggs leaves, now Murtaugh? Deadline reports Damon Wayans is leaving FOX’s Lethal Weapon reboot.
The cop drama, which just debuted its third season, just saw a main character exit. Lead star Clayne Crawford (who played Martin Riggs) was fired from the series after season two. The cast now includes Seann William Scott, Kevin Rahm, Johnathan Fernandez, Michelle Mitchenor, Keesha Sharp, Dante Brown, and Chandler Kinney.
So why is Wayans leaving Lethal Weapon? In a recent interview, he blamed the long work days on the FOX TV show, which can sometimes last as long as 16 hours.
Wayans says he’ll complete filming 13 episodes of season three of Lethal Weapon. He notes that he hopes this will give producers enough time to replace him. But, given the show’s mediocre ratings, will the show be cancelled without him?
What do you think? Are you a fan of Lethal Weapon? Would you watch without Wayans?
The Network/Fox would be smart to bring Clayne Crawford back with the help of the talented writing staff. The first two seasons were a real ratings magnet with Riggs & Murtagh taking command. Fox had a REAL winner Season 1 & 2 and they could definitely have one again, after Damon Wayans leaves. Clayne Crawford has the comedic and dramatic acting chops to carry it SOLO if necessary!!
I think they insulted him, and stabbed him in the back. Doubt he will want anything to do with them. They fired the wrong guy.
I agree it would be smart to bring Crawford back and the show would probably do better anyway.
Didn’t he just buy a new million dollar home to be closer to the set?
Run and hide, loser. You don’t want to be blamed for ruining the show. Waaaaa
Bring Back Clayne Crawford and replace Damon . You can keep Sean too
Tout à fait d’accord!D’ailleurs ,je n’ai plus envie de regarder.Et,d’après les scores d’audience,je ne dois pas être la seule !
Hmm…, so after making sure the Riggs character is dead, Damon announces he is quitting and now producers can’t bring back Riggs, (Clayne Crawford), to somehow carry on the show. Damon just effectively managed to lose everyone’s job on the show. Clayne never did anything that atrocious.
Well said.
The show will never be the same!!!!! Will never watch again without the duo!!!!!
Excellente analyse!Dommage car on retrouvait bien l’allant des films dans les deux premières saisons !
Maybe he decided this after that happened.
They should rehire Riggs and make it about him in Texas or something. Have him fake his own death or come out of witness protection
what a diva
Pure & simple BIG mistake:
WARNER BROS/FOX should never have fired Clayne Crawford as Riggs.
First & Second seasons were amazing!
I love Sean William Scott; I like Clayne Crawford. I couldn’t stand his gross, greasy, floppy hair and disgusting personal hygiene. I’d also had enough of the dead wife after two years of it. Interestingly, the season 3 premiere had the exact same ratings as the season 2 finale. Second week of season 3 stayed even with first week, so Crawford’s absence didn’t really impact ratings.
The guy clearly just wants attention and people begging him to stay. Clayne was right he is a cry baby. Fox made some terrible choices this past summer with B99, Clayne and Lucifer. I’m surprised they Gave Gotham a proper ending.
No surprise here. Glad I haven’t watched Season 3 at all.
Show is better without Riggs, If I saw one more flashback about his dead wife I was going to0 throw up
NO RIGGS, NO SHOW!!!
I agree
My thoughts exactly
I actually like the “new” Riggs, Sean W Scott, who I enjoyed in the first 2 episodes. Waynans was never an issue for me, but I don’t know much about the conflict between him and Clayne. With Waynans’ departure, I would love to see them bring Clayne back…..no explanation necessary.
Seriously, is this a joke?
If murtaugh leaves i won’t be watching it, it’s hard to watch it now without Riggs sorry.
You don’t pull Martin Riggs from Lethal Weapon and expect it to continue. Think about the movies, what would they be without Mel Gibbson bringing Martin Riggs to life? I heard that Damon and Clayne fought on the set of the show and I completely understand about the long days, but in the end, the very fact about Riggs not being there came into Damon’s mind. I decided not to watch the new season when I found out they fired Clayne, so good riddance.
I absolutely agree–there is no show without Riggs–just doesn’t make sense. And if you bring in another character to replace the Riggs character, that won’t work either. I stopped watching it after Crawford left the show. I considered watching it again when Scott joined the cast, but now that Wayons is quitting, forget it now. The show is done.
I agree with the both of you. They should have never took Riggs off the show. Both him and Wayne made the show and it isn’t the same without Riggs. I have watched it and there is just something missing. And that is MARTIN RIGGS.
Riggs was the gem in this show. Too bad personal problems couldn’t have been worked out. It’s lost it’s appeal for me
