The FOX network has decided not to order additional episodes of Lie to Me. Production will be halted next month, leaving the season total at 13 installments. Is the show essentially cancelled?
While a move like this is never a positive sign, it doesn’t necessarily mean that Lie to Me is finished. FOX has been using the series as a utility player and could potentially order more episodes at a later date for a summer run.
However, Lie to Me’s ratings haven’t exactly been stellar. The seven episodes that have aired thus far this season have averaged just a 1.8 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 5.42 million viewers. It’s consistently ranked either third or fourth in its Monday night timeslot, losing a significant amount of the lead-in audience from House. In the demo, it’s the ninth most-watched program on the network, ranking just below struggling Fringe.
It probably doesn’t help that executive producer Shawn Ryan left to run his own show, The Chicago Code, which is set to debut on FOX in January.
Original episodes of Lie to Me return next month and are set to finish airing by January 31st. The decision to either renew or cancel the series will likely come down to how confident the FOX execs are in what they have in the pipeline.
What do you think? Will Lie to Me be cancelled or will the network order more episodes? What would you do?

Please bring this show back!!! This is the only tv show that I actually make a point of watching!!!!
Lie to me in a unique show that captures your interest in fellow human beings and how to understand them by being able to read their emotions. This in not your average cop show. It has depth and intrigue that make you want to turn in each week. This is a show that diversifies all cop shows. It is just what T.V. is missing. Its replacement with Chicago Code is not the way to achieve better ratings. The Chicago Code is just another cop show. Good guy bad guy, catch him ……………. ho hum…… Give us the intrigue we long… Read more »
I found Lie to Me to be not just a very entertaining show, but also a very and highly accurate-and informative show based on real stuff. It may sound weird but it’s educational. But, come on, we are talking about the same broadcasting company that cancelled Family Guy about 3 times and that show’s still on Tv. So, let’s not lose the hope. Cal Lightman is a very interesting character, and Gillian Foster is sexy and has such a good heart.
I am very saddened by the news that FOX has cancelled the show. There may be more episodes they say, but damn it, I loved that show. It was original, not like all these cops and robbers shows. House and Lie tome were my favorite shows. And the way the last episode in January ended, when he confessed his love for partner, I am realy angry. I am writing to Fox. I know it wont do any good but we should all stand up and make them do more episodes. If the show isnt getting more ratings than house, put… Read more »
If they are losing so much from house why not move it to another day. I love lie to me and house, fringe is well I wouldnt miss it. Fastlane amazing maybe they can renew it. I dont mind if they use the same fancy cars or maybe they can use less who knows all i can say they had a great plot! I would love to watch it again. AND FOR GOT SAKE BRING SGU BACK. I CANT WAIT ANYMORE and sanctuary while you are it.
PLEASE KEEP… MY BF AND I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS SHOW AND CAN’T WAIT TO SEE WHAT HAPPENS AND THE CHEMISTRY BEHIND FACIAL READING.
Monday night line up on fox was great. Always looked forward to Mondays on fox. Lie to me was a great and interesting program. It always seems as a show starts coming together with the charters and story line its gone from this network. I hope it will return and have a long run. Will wait and see but not to long.
LIE TO ME is an intelligent, engaging show. The chemistry between characters has grown immensely since it’s inception, and the story lines are involved and interesting. LIE TO ME was one show I looked forward to watching every week. I already miss it. Perhaps TNT orFX will pick it up. They’re not afraid of “smart” television. Also, in theory it would seem to make sense to have LIE TO ME follow HOUSE, yet after watching HOUSE I think the average viewer needs a break from the cerebral intensity and needs pure entertainment brain candy. LIE TO ME would be perfect… Read more »
I can relate to this show and others like Bones ,House and Fringe because these people were born and have always operated outside of the proverbial box. Thses shows give us “nerds” from the 60’s hope! Fox has been my mainstay except for American Idol and that Chef guy..Hell’s Kitchen. Cerebral is good!!!
I love the show Lie To Me. I think it should stay on.
LIE TO ME NEEDS TO COME BACK! It is one of the only things that helps keep me sane through Grad School!!!
Please don’t cancel Lie To Me. It is one of the 4-5 shows we watch on weekday evenings. Please . . . it’s drama and comedy all in one, and it’s decent!!
I am absolutely in love with Lie to Me!!!!! Please don’t cancel it it is one of a kind and has one of the best casts I’ve seen. The acting and chemistry between the actors is genious! Don’t cancel the show!
Lie to me should stay on !!!
Lie to Me, House, and Chicago code is a knockout line-up…canceling good shows is what Fox does but it’s time to break the cycle. Keep airing television gold. Oh, and bring back Fastlane!
