We all saw it coming. One of the most anticipated TV shows of the new fall season, Lone Star, has been cancelled after two episodes.
Lone Star centers around a handsome conman (James Wolk) who lives a double life to swindle investors and an oil tycoon family. He starts to have regrets and struggles to balance both lives and keep everybody happy. Others in the series are Jon Voight, Adrianne Palicki, Bryce Johnson, David Keith, Eloise Mumford, and Mark Deklin.
The FOX series debuted last week to a very disappointing 1.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 4.1 million total viewers. Last night, despite several days of buzz and campaigning to get new viewers, the ratings fell even lower to a 1.0 rating in the demo and 3.23 million viewers. As was the case in week one, many people who started watching tuned out before the episode was over. For whatever reason, it just didn’t click.
Lone Star has been cancelled effective immediately and the three remaining unaired episodes have been shelved. There’s no word if FOX will get around to releasing the remaining episodes at some point in the future.
Last week, the cast and crew were shooting the sixth installment. Production has now been shut down and it’s unclear if that episode was completed.
Lone Star’s spot will be filled by the season three premiere of Lie to Me.
What do you think? Are you sorry to see Lone Star be cancelled? If you watched, where do you think it went wrong?
UPDATE: Subsequent reports have indicated that there are six completed episodes with four left unaired.

i am so sad this was one of the best shows in the last decade,
How can you know in such a short time. With all the crap out there and this is cancelled? Makes no sense to me. Reminded me of Dallas. I want it back. Nice to get lost in a good show like this and refreshing new faces.
Please bring it back. And the comments are for keeping it.. not oh lord how glad I am it is gone. come on peeps.
weird…
loved the pilot–was happy to see something different – not a law or police/detective story–could really relate
Wow. That explains why I couldn’t find it. I thought it was moved to a different day.
I had finally got my wife to start watching it with me (second episode) and she loved it. After two episodes, though….really??
I thought the Pilot was the second best written one I’d seen this decade, after NBC’s “The Black Donnellys,” which met a similar fate. While I enjoyed the 2nd episode of Lone Star, it became evident that the show might have struggled to keep up the plot for more than a season, since “will he get found out” was the core of the suspense, and you just can’t keep that up longterm… In many ways, it was similar to FX’s “The Riches,” the Minnie Driver & Eddie Izzard show that was canceled a couple of years ago. The first season… Read more »
I loved this show sad to see it go 🙁
LoneStar was such a great show! I can’t believe it got cancelled after 2 episodes! I really hope they bring it back because I was definitely making that one of my regular shows. I’m sad to see it go 🙁
I liked it alot had a good plot better than the event and not another cop show. To bad was a great show maybie the should change the day or time slot maybie a good weekend show
I liked the show. It’s better than some of the other stuff Fox has on. In fact, it was the only show I was watching that Fox puts on. No more Fox for me.
America’s too dumb for good TV-
My husband and I loved this show. It was our favorite of the new season of shows. We went to our dvr to watch it tonight (we’d waited and anticipated all week), and were so bummed not to find it recorded. After some investigation we learned the show was canceled, and are so disappointed. I hope Fox brings the show back! We love it!
Loved Lone Star. Maybe put it to a different night since there is so much good t.v. on Mondays. I’m thinking it still will get more viewers then Lie to me!!!!. We want Lone Star back.
I agree that it should be on another night. There are to many good shows this fall on Monday night. I am having a hard time deciding which one to watch & record. I loved the show. Different from all the other shows. I can see this becoming a show like Dallas or Dynasty. Please bring back but another night!
I loved the pilot and thought that the show as developing nicely. Different than anything else on TV right now, a nice mix of familiarity and suspense. Most of us know someone who could be a Bob. James Wolk made his character both identifiable and likable. I hope that FOX brings it back….we need to know how Bob solves his dilemma. A couple more shower scenes wouldn’t hurt either.
I thought it was going to one of the Series ever ;ranking with DALLAS and DYNASTY.I was truly shocked and dissapointed.I believed it would have rose in the ratings as the word was spread on how good it was.It is to bad it is all about ratings and the all mighty dollar.Rome was not built in a day.The minority viewers should have some rights. If you feel as I do,let us flood the net work with praise for the show.We might have some success.
Sorry to hear it was canceled, I was looking forward other episodes!
