We all saw it coming. One of the most anticipated TV shows of the new fall season, Lone Star, has been cancelled after two episodes.
Lone Star centers around a handsome conman (James Wolk) who lives a double life to swindle investors and an oil tycoon family. He starts to have regrets and struggles to balance both lives and keep everybody happy. Others in the series are Jon Voight, Adrianne Palicki, Bryce Johnson, David Keith, Eloise Mumford, and Mark Deklin.
The FOX series debuted last week to a very disappointing 1.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 4.1 million total viewers. Last night, despite several days of buzz and campaigning to get new viewers, the ratings fell even lower to a 1.0 rating in the demo and 3.23 million viewers. As was the case in week one, many people who started watching tuned out before the episode was over. For whatever reason, it just didn’t click.
Lone Star has been cancelled effective immediately and the three remaining unaired episodes have been shelved. There’s no word if FOX will get around to releasing the remaining episodes at some point in the future.
Last week, the cast and crew were shooting the sixth installment. Production has now been shut down and it’s unclear if that episode was completed.
Lone Star’s spot will be filled by the season three premiere of Lie to Me.
What do you think? Are you sorry to see Lone Star be cancelled? If you watched, where do you think it went wrong?
UPDATE: Subsequent reports have indicated that there are six completed episodes with four left unaired.

ONE OF THE BEST NEW SHOWS. BRING IT BACK
Really disappointed. One of the best new shows on TV. Spent two days trying to figure out why we couldn’t find it. GIVE IT ANOTHER CHANCE
I find so much of what FOX airs to be vulgar trash aimed for who-knows-who that I was shocked to find such an intelligently presented and acted show in its lineup. It’s too bad the FOX didn’t take a page from NBC’s book when that network decided to stick with Friday Night Lights, but FOX, after all, is FOX. Ratings trump quality–always have, always will.
We were really interested in how this was going to all play out. Got on the internet to find out what time and channel it was on, so we didn’t miss it this week.
Lie to me sucks! Get that guy a neck brace!
I really liked this show……give it another shot fox
Like many of you, I enjoyed this new show and it was one of my new favs. I don’t think networks have a clue to the actual ratings. I DVR most of what I watch as do many Americans. Many people watch TV online now too. Does anyone even know someone who’s been a network test viewer? It’s Friday night and the only thing worth watching is the Good Guys. I believe the show could have done better on a different night too. FOX used to be the upstart and showed Married With Children and other shows regardless of ratings,… Read more »
I actually liked Lone Star. However, with all the ponsi schemes and bad economy – maybe it did not click with a lot of people. I think if give a chance, the show would probably teach a few lessons on what to avoid with people who want to take your money.
I love this show and I can’t even begin to fathom why it is being taken off the air. The writer’s are brilliant and the actors were also! I really, really hope that they reconsider this decision. At least let it play for the remaining episodes that have already been taped. Please reconsider and give this show another chance!!!!
Soooooo sorry to read LoneStar has been cancelled. What a shame. I think maybe it wasn’t given a chance. I had great potential – I loved all the characters and the storyline. I think maybe it was too “smart” for FOX. FX may have been a better place for LoneStar. as in Damages, Justified, etc
I loved the show and I’m very dissapointed it was cancelled.
well that sucks! i liked that show
I really enjoyed Lonestar I think Lie to Me is so played out. Shame!
Big mistake! This show was different from anything else on TV. Had real potential to be an interesting option to the rest of the junk . Shows network’s lack of respect for its audience by canceling “Lonestar” after only two shows.
I can’t believe this. I loved it so much I watched both repeats on Saturday night. And here you go. that figures. Bring it back!!!!!!!!!!
We loved the show and were looking forward to it weekly. We would love to see it back.
