We all saw it coming. One of the most anticipated TV shows of the new fall season, Lone Star, has been cancelled after two episodes.
Lone Star centers around a handsome conman (James Wolk) who lives a double life to swindle investors and an oil tycoon family. He starts to have regrets and struggles to balance both lives and keep everybody happy. Others in the series are Jon Voight, Adrianne Palicki, Bryce Johnson, David Keith, Eloise Mumford, and Mark Deklin.
The FOX series debuted last week to a very disappointing 1.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 4.1 million total viewers. Last night, despite several days of buzz and campaigning to get new viewers, the ratings fell even lower to a 1.0 rating in the demo and 3.23 million viewers. As was the case in week one, many people who started watching tuned out before the episode was over. For whatever reason, it just didn’t click.
Lone Star has been cancelled effective immediately and the three remaining unaired episodes have been shelved. There’s no word if FOX will get around to releasing the remaining episodes at some point in the future.
Last week, the cast and crew were shooting the sixth installment. Production has now been shut down and it’s unclear if that episode was completed.
Lone Star’s spot will be filled by the season three premiere of Lie to Me.
What do you think? Are you sorry to see Lone Star be cancelled? If you watched, where do you think it went wrong?
UPDATE: Subsequent reports have indicated that there are six completed episodes with four left unaired.

Why don’t they try a different time slot with the three shows in the can.
How about put it on right after Justified when it comes back this winter…
Worth a try…
My husband and loved this show. Of the entire fall lineup this was the one we liked best. So disappointed it’s over!
Makes sense to me. I did not like the premise of two families and one father. The show was bound for demise from the beginning. Nothing “Lone Star” about this show. Good riddance.
we are very sorry this show was canceled. this is the only show that both my husband liked to watch together. Please give this tv series another chance.
I also am VERY disappointed!
I can’t believe that they cancelled it, it always seems that they cancel the good shows..
We loved the show and am very sorry it was cancelled.
My husband and I watched and looked forward to it. We were travelling this summer and saw it on preview shows and we were wanting more. Why put it up against monday night football. Really good story line and great acting. Come back on another day, Please.
I really like this show. I was shocked to see that it had been cancelled. At least show the rest of the episodes.
sometimes things take time
This really is sad 🙁 I think they should bring the show back and maybe WE the people who love it should start a website to see how many people really like it. First f all Monday is not the best day for it so maybe Fox could think about another day and see if more people watch.
Please Fox…give it another try…. PLEASE. I know so many people who watched and wanted to see what happened next.
It’s not many shows that my husband and I BOTH like, but Lonestar was one. I am P.O.’d! I was anxious every week to see where the plot was going to take the main character, and whether he’d do the right thing or not. Also, whether his dad was going to screw everything up. I honestly cannot believe they cancelled this!!! Every actor was excellent–to the point where I felt uncomfortable when the main hero got married–again. Jon Voigt scared me as the CEO-dad who had put himself out on a limb for his son-in-law–and I would hate to be… Read more »
Really liked the show. Started recording tonight and came to the computer to get a few actor names. Learned of cancellation. So sorry. Really thought it was good and something different
wow, this is very disappointing. I loved the first episode. And was hopoing to catch up on line with the others. It was very entertaining
I was very disappointed to discover Lone Star was canceled! I was excited to see something different and suspenseful without the blood and gore other shows have (and feel they must have to maintain an audience). Yes, Fox should have given this show a chance.
To all the people who worked on this show: Kudos to you! Your hard work is appreciated and moved me. From the writers to the caterers, you all should be proud to be part of this production!
