We all saw it coming. One of the most anticipated TV shows of the new fall season, Lone Star, has been cancelled after two episodes.
Lone Star centers around a handsome conman (James Wolk) who lives a double life to swindle investors and an oil tycoon family. He starts to have regrets and struggles to balance both lives and keep everybody happy. Others in the series are Jon Voight, Adrianne Palicki, Bryce Johnson, David Keith, Eloise Mumford, and Mark Deklin.
The FOX series debuted last week to a very disappointing 1.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 4.1 million total viewers. Last night, despite several days of buzz and campaigning to get new viewers, the ratings fell even lower to a 1.0 rating in the demo and 3.23 million viewers. As was the case in week one, many people who started watching tuned out before the episode was over. For whatever reason, it just didn’t click.
Lone Star has been cancelled effective immediately and the three remaining unaired episodes have been shelved. There’s no word if FOX will get around to releasing the remaining episodes at some point in the future.
Last week, the cast and crew were shooting the sixth installment. Production has now been shut down and it’s unclear if that episode was completed.
Lone Star’s spot will be filled by the season three premiere of Lie to Me.
What do you think? Are you sorry to see Lone Star be cancelled? If you watched, where do you think it went wrong?
UPDATE: Subsequent reports have indicated that there are six completed episodes with four left unaired.

My family LOVED this show and were looking forward to seeing it again. I just went to look for it and found that it was cancelled? What the heck? Come on FOX. Give the show a chance. It was interesting and we were already hooked. The upcoming previews looked amazing. Put it back on the air!!
How can they cancel something after 2 episodes!!! Stupid Networks. It takes time sometimes to catch on. With so many new shows coming out all at once, people skip around week to week to figure out if they like a show or not. It takes time which they don’t give anymore. So sad to see this as this was a good show with a great idea. Really would have like to seen where it would go.
I LOVED Lonestar!!!! I had it set to record on my DVR, and was very disappointed when I went to watch and it was lie to me! Does anyone know whether it still counts in the ratings if you have to tape a show?
So, I really liked this show and thought it was well casted for the men but not so much the women. Also, Gossip Girl was on at the same time and has many followers making it a bad time to have it on. Hope they bring it back in the near future.
They didn’t even give it a chance, 2 weeks come on.
I am very disapointed that the show was cancelled. I thought it was a fresh idea. There are many crime scene, hospital oriented, attorney shows that I feel should have been cancelled seasons ago. The new “Hawaii 5-0” is very disappointing and personally I feel that it wastes air time!!! I was immediately drawn to Lonestar and hope that someday it will return!!!
Lone Star was a great show. I wish I could buy it on DVD.
I liked the first episode. I actually just got around to watching the second on my DVR and I’ve been looking for it in it’s time slot, which brought me to this article, I wanted to know what happened to it. I like the show and at the same time I don’t like the show. I like the concept, however, the two main characters, Bob and his dad, need to be a lot smarter to fool the people they are trying to swindle and the excuses they give are pretty flimsy and unbelievable and I find it hard to believe… Read more »
That is just wrong that was the best show on tv!!!!
bull****, loved that show
Thank heaven for Netflix. At least I can find something interesting to watch on it. I am so sick of network tv starting a good show & canceling it. Who do you contact for your ratings? Nobody called me. Way to go.

They have even pulled it off of Hulu. Know of any other place they can be seen?
“House” had lousy ratings at first. Fox ran repeat episodes later on during the same week to get viewer’s interest. The same should have been done with “Lone Star”
I am very unhappy this show was cancelled. I thought the show was a lot of fun. Fox needs to bring the show back.
I was so disappointed. Whenever a show comes on that makes you think, it seems they cancel it. I told everyone about the show. Maybe, it is something that could be picked up by another network?
