We all saw it coming. One of the most anticipated TV shows of the new fall season, Lone Star, has been cancelled after two episodes.
Lone Star centers around a handsome conman (James Wolk) who lives a double life to swindle investors and an oil tycoon family. He starts to have regrets and struggles to balance both lives and keep everybody happy. Others in the series are Jon Voight, Adrianne Palicki, Bryce Johnson, David Keith, Eloise Mumford, and Mark Deklin.
The FOX series debuted last week to a very disappointing 1.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 4.1 million total viewers. Last night, despite several days of buzz and campaigning to get new viewers, the ratings fell even lower to a 1.0 rating in the demo and 3.23 million viewers. As was the case in week one, many people who started watching tuned out before the episode was over. For whatever reason, it just didn’t click.
Lone Star has been cancelled effective immediately and the three remaining unaired episodes have been shelved. There’s no word if FOX will get around to releasing the remaining episodes at some point in the future.
Last week, the cast and crew were shooting the sixth installment. Production has now been shut down and it’s unclear if that episode was completed.
Lone Star’s spot will be filled by the season three premiere of Lie to Me.
What do you think? Are you sorry to see Lone Star be cancelled? If you watched, where do you think it went wrong?
UPDATE: Subsequent reports have indicated that there are six completed episodes with four left unaired.

Glad it was cancelled. I did watch the two airings and was disgusted that stealing and polygamy are okay. Another example of what hollywood thinks is okay and what we buy into. This is the kind of show that makes me want to not watch tv anymore. Where have the values gone?
So I’m guessing you skip shows like “Dancing With the Stars” with the interracial dancing and skimpy costumes; all “CSI” shows due to violence, gore, profanity, adultury, etc.; and also shows like American Idol due to racy song lyrics?
Please bring this show back, it is hard to find a show that both my husband and I
like to watch. We were anxious to see the next show, all of the sudden I find out
it won’t be back on. Please bring this show back
I really liked watching this show. I thought it was very interesting and different. I watched the show on On demand on cable because I missed it Monday, and have been waiting for new episodes for the past 3 weeks. I am disappointed that it was canceled. It is the only show besides Glee that I was watching this season. BRING IT BACK!!!!!
This is a real bummer. We really liked the show and planned to watch it every week.
What happened??
just give it more than a two hour shot, there is only one actor, personally, who won’t be missed, Bobby’s Dad…………………too bad, was looking forward to watching the show.
I am a native Texan with close relatives in both Houston and Midland. I am really disappointed in this program’s cancellation.
I was looking forward to this program this season.
I liked the show and did a google search for it. I only had seen one episode. I could not remember when I saw it or never heard when it was going to be on I just ran accross it. I don’t think it was promoted enough. I thought it was a good show.
This is awful- this show was smart, funny entertaining- the star was very good in it- he was excellent-
I really liked this show! It was different and kept my attention! I’m very dissappointed it didn’t last!
Really enjoyed the show and was disappointed to see it cancelled.
I really liked this show…thought it was original and interesting…wish they would bring it back. Have a question…if you DVR something, does that count in the ratings as being “watched”? I DVR alot of shows and watch them when I can…wasn’t sure if that counted!
I was interested in keeping the show around. I thought it was more interesting than most of the shows on TV this season. I would like to keep the show on the air.
BRING IT BACK!
We here all the way in Jamaica love this show. Please considering publishing the un-aired episodes.
