Becca Winstone’s chase is over. ABC has cancelled Missing, their Thursday night TV series, after one season and 10 episodes.
Starring Ashley Judd, Missing follows a former CIA Agent turned single mom as she searches for her missing son in Europe. The action show also stars Adriano Giannini, Nick Eversman, Cliff Curtis, Tereza Voriskova, and Sean Bean.
Missing got off to a disappointing start on March 15th, registering a 2.1 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 10.60 million viewers. It was in third place for the demo and second place in total viewership.
In week two, the numbers took a significant drop, to a 1.6 rating with 8.81 million. Over the next several weeks, Missing fell lower and lower. The most recent episode hit a new low with a 1.1 demo rating and 6.37 million total viewers.

Overall, Missing’s been averaging a 1.5 rating with 7.70 million viewers. If they had more episodes in the season, those averages would surely keep sinking lower.
On our ABC Ratings Report Card, which measures the relative demo success of TV shows on the network, Missing has a “D-” for a grade. Of the 22 scripted shows on the network this season, Missing ranks 21st — just above the already-cancelled Charlie’s Angels remake.
With low ratings and steep declines, it’s no wonder that ABC decided not to renew Missing for a second season.
The series finale airs next Thursday and will hopefully include enough closure to satisfy the viewers that stuck with it.
What do you think? Are you sorry to hear that Missing has been cancelled? Why do you think the show didn’t succeed? How long should have the show realistically lasted — one season, two, three or more?

Very disappointed to hear that Missing has been cancelled. Loved the locations, scenery and storyline. I am hoping that one of the cable channels will pick this up.
Missing is the best show i have seen in many years and they are cancelling it, WHAT, if they do i will never watch anything on ABC again.
What’s wrong with you, ABC!!!!! Such a great show! Ditch the reality shows! They are becoming ridiculous. Bring back Missing!!!!!!!!!!!!
i cant belive a b c cancelled “missing” it was a good show the only other show i watch on abc is bachlorette and bachlor. abc wake up!!! this is why i dont watch abc they cancel shows way too quick.
Very disappointed that Missing has been cancelled. I watched ever episodes and some again online. Missing was the best show that has been on time in a very long time. I have not found one person who watched it on a regular basis who isnt very upset about this. I am hoping it will be picked back up. I could think of several other shows that should be cancelled instead of this one. If there is anything the fans can do, let us know!! I am willing to try to change ABCs minds!!
i am also upset.. i watch this all the time.. this was the best show on tv… there should be atleast another episode so we know what will hapen to becca…
Extremely disappointed that Missing is cancelled. Ashley Judd is an excellent actress (and despite the natural process of aging, still a very attractive lady) and the program gave the impression of an action-packed movie rather than just a TV show. Scenery was magnificent. Looked forward to each episode every week. I am hoping that the network will either change its mind or that another network will pick it up.
I love the show, but lets be realistic. The writing is absolutely atrocious – the dialog is intolerable, the characters mostly unlikeable and smug (or wooden). The plot is absurd.
But those locations! In HD, it is the most beautiful show on TV. How come they didn’t fire the writers and get Ashley Judd off Botox? I would still watch it every week.
I am hoping that TNT, USA, The WB or someone else picks Missing up. It was a good show.
What??????? This show was awesome! We loved it do much that we continued to watch even though we heard it was being cancelled…. Please, bring it back!
How could Missing have had ratings that low? My family LOVED it! If facebook is any indication, there were many, many others who loved it too. In all honesty, I get quite enough reality during the day. I don’t need it when I watch t.v. at night. Please bring Missing back!
I think they did not give the show a chance. The concept was good. The locations great.
My mother and I loved that show! I am disappointed
Can’t believe it did so bad and nobody was watching…..my husband and I watched every show and loved it. We looked forward to being able to watch a talented cast with a great story and picturesque scenery that kept you wanting more. Guess people would rather watch trash like 1 man making it with 50 women….
What a shame such a well done show was cancelled. Apparently cheaply made reality shows are where it is at. Hoping another network will pick it up.
Extremely disappointed to hear that “Missing” has been cancelled! Loved the locations and storyline. Such suspense and the hook at the end of the finallywa great. Couldn,t wait to see what was going to happen next season. Too many crap shows on tv these days. Please bring “Missing” back!!!
I loved the show…I like Ashley Judd and Sean Bean.,,,they are terrific.
I think the show would have done better as a movie….it seems too stretched out.
The venues were great….
