All for one, but three is all. Digital Spy (DS) reports the upcoming third season of BBC America and BBC One‘s The Musketeers TV series will be its last. The BBC has not yet officially announced the swashbuckling series is cancelled.
The 17th Century action-drama, inspired by Alexandre Dumas’ novel, The Three Musketeers, stars Tom Burke as Athos, Santiago Cabrera as Aramis, Howard Charles as Porthos, and Luke Pasqualino as d’Artagnan. The actors issued statements to Digital Spy, in which they reflect on their time on the ending series, thank their audience for tuning in, and even tease season three of The Musketeers.
Here is more, from DS
“My Musketeers adventure was truly an incredible experience, which will live with me forever,” said Pasqualino. “I had the most amazing time exploring this beautiful world with even more beautiful people.
“I feel very sad to see its end but have every confidence that the fans will love viewing it as much as we enjoyed making it. Huge thanks to all who made the show such a pleasurable journey and of course, thank you to the fans that saw the show for everything that it was.”
Burke promised that the final series of The Musketeers will explore “a universe that is less stable than the first two”.
“I suppose by that I mean that death and decay are casting a far bigger shadow than ever before from the very first episode,” he said. “And because of that characters come to really examine their motives, and their fears, not only to save France but to find peace within. Time is running out and no-one is getting any younger.”
Cabrera commented: “Three seasons of The Musketeers was a true, action packed adventure, in every sense of the term. I will miss the world of Dumas, these rich characters, and many of the friendships made along the way.
“A big thank you to the fans of the show, you’re the ones that kept us going strong. Hope you enjoy this third and final season as much as the first two. Your support has been wonderful. It’s all yours now.”
Charles also expressed his appreciation for the show’s loyal fans, adding: “The Musketeers has been a truly wonderful experience, an enlightening challenge and a memorable three seasons.
“These characters will never cease to educate us on the notion of Liberty, Fraternity and Equality. They will live forever in our hearts and minds. A huge thank you to our fans of old and new, hope you enjoy the final season. Your loyalty and support is not lost on us. All for one…”
In the upcoming last season of The Musketeers, Rupert Everett plays the villainous Parisian Governor Feron. The actor told DS he loved being on the series, adding, “The actors were all brilliant – as were the directors. It was hard work but fun. We were on location in the Czech Republic which is stunning and Prague is incredible. It was a hot Summer, so doubly great!”
The Musketeers is a BBC Drama Production for BBC One, co-produced by BBC America and BBC Worldwide. Series creator Adrian Hodges is lead writer. The Musketeers is executive produced by Jessica Pope, with Colin Wratten producing.
What do you think? Should The Musketeers TV show end after its third season or should it be renewed? Let us know, below.
this is my favorite show it should not be canceled at season three. there have been alot of great shows that have canceled early this should not be one of them.the show must go on
I love the series. Please do not cancel it. I love the season 3!
This show does not need to be cancelled! Please rethink! Give us a couple more seasons!!
save the musketeers
please no !!!
Please no!!!! Just discovered the show, love the action, passion and characters. Hate to see it go!!!! Why??
The Musketeers is a show with incredible costumes and impeccable acting. The characters are realistic and flawed and the world would be poorer without them. Please do not let this world die!
Should carry on to film another series
This is a true swashbuckling adventure and plenty to admire in actors and of course good looks
Great shame that this is not being continued
Bring the show back! I had no idea that this show was even on. I looked through HULU and it sparked my interest. my wife and I have been hooked on the show. Actor and actresses were all great and the action wass great and nothing gory. We love the characters.
This was a good show…I hated to see it end! Please bring it back!
Please bring the series back!!!
I really loved this show and I think a part of me actually died inside when I read this was the last series. Such a good series, but all good things come to an end, then again so do bad things.
I absolutely love this show it should be continued I would hate to see it end. The show is so well put together and amazing and the actors do really great work I hope it gets the possibility to be renewed.
