All for one, but three is all. Digital Spy (DS) reports the upcoming third season of BBC America and BBC One‘s The Musketeers TV series will be its last. The BBC has not yet officially announced the swashbuckling series is cancelled.
The 17th Century action-drama, inspired by Alexandre Dumas’ novel, The Three Musketeers, stars Tom Burke as Athos, Santiago Cabrera as Aramis, Howard Charles as Porthos, and Luke Pasqualino as d’Artagnan. The actors issued statements to Digital Spy, in which they reflect on their time on the ending series, thank their audience for tuning in, and even tease season three of The Musketeers.

“My Musketeers adventure was truly an incredible experience, which will live with me forever,” said Pasqualino. “I had the most amazing time exploring this beautiful world with even more beautiful people.
“I feel very sad to see its end but have every confidence that the fans will love viewing it as much as we enjoyed making it. Huge thanks to all who made the show such a pleasurable journey and of course, thank you to the fans that saw the show for everything that it was.”
Burke promised that the final series of The Musketeers will explore “a universe that is less stable than the first two”.
“I suppose by that I mean that death and decay are casting a far bigger shadow than ever before from the very first episode,” he said. “And because of that characters come to really examine their motives, and their fears, not only to save France but to find peace within. Time is running out and no-one is getting any younger.”
Cabrera commented: “Three seasons of The Musketeers was a true, action packed adventure, in every sense of the term. I will miss the world of Dumas, these rich characters, and many of the friendships made along the way.
“A big thank you to the fans of the show, you’re the ones that kept us going strong. Hope you enjoy this third and final season as much as the first two. Your support has been wonderful. It’s all yours now.”
Charles also expressed his appreciation for the show’s loyal fans, adding: “The Musketeers has been a truly wonderful experience, an enlightening challenge and a memorable three seasons.
“These characters will never cease to educate us on the notion of Liberty, Fraternity and Equality. They will live forever in our hearts and minds. A huge thank you to our fans of old and new, hope you enjoy the final season. Your loyalty and support is not lost on us. All for one…”
In the upcoming last season of The Musketeers, Rupert Everett plays the villainous Parisian Governor Feron. The actor told DS he loved being on the series, adding, “The actors were all brilliant – as were the directors. It was hard work but fun. We were on location in the Czech Republic which is stunning and Prague is incredible. It was a hot Summer, so doubly great!”
The Musketeers is a BBC Drama Production for BBC One, co-produced by BBC America and BBC Worldwide. Series creator Adrian Hodges is lead writer. The Musketeers is executive produced by Jessica Pope, with Colin Wratten producing.

I hope the BBC now sees it was a great mistake to cancel this Series after only 3 seasons. I have watched nothing but Turkish dramas for the past 2 years without watching anything from the US which is where I’m from. This is the first Series I have watched that was not Turkish and it was every bit as awesome. Great storylines, great acting, obviously great crew as well. Here’s what I think the networks are having problems with and that’s if people don’t know a certain show exist it’s not going to be watched. I just learned of The Musketeers last week and it’s August of 2017 on Hulu and it’s one of the best shows I’ve seen in a while so it’s poor advertising in my opinion. If the people don’t know it exist it won’t be watched so I’m not happy with yet another STUPID network for canceling a show before it’s time…

Yes it should be renewed, it is fiction but based on historical facts, the kings and queens and other characters of this serial show really existed. It’s good to remind ourselves of this period in history. The dauphin in this show grew to be Louis XIV , le Roi Soleil, the longest reigning king of France. Please bring it back, it was contagious to watch!
Yes it should be renewed! Its part of History past all the ties between France, England and so much more. The times and dates, actors, story lines and plots are so contagious to watch. Please bring it back for the sake of the Fans ……… and of course, the King! -Canadian believer.
What do the people of United States have to do axing the Musketeers? I’m from Canada, do I not have a say? Please keep the show ..its one of the best out there! All the history and ties between France, Paris and England. I like the normalcy of past History compared to what we live in today. I just don’t understand this decision.

I PICKED UP THE MUSKETEERS ( SEASON 3) BY ACCIDENT AT THE STORE , I DID NOT REALIZE IT WAS A SERIES. I WATCHED THE SHOW AND WOW. I HAD TO FIND THE FIRST AND SECOND SEASON, IT WAS THAT GOOD, IAM USUALLY NOT IMPRESSED WITH TYPE OF SHOW BUT THE WAY EVERYTHING FELL TOGETHER AND HOW THE ACTORS FILLED THE PARTS AND MADE IT ALL COME TOGETHER. Make at least one more season. The young king grown up, Porthos and Elodie, D’artagnan recruiting Musketeers, Athos and Sylvie’s child, Aramis and the queen, Milady de Winter killing Gaston… so many open ends I would love see finished out. Such a great series that could continue to be great. Please 🙁
