Recently, ABC cancelled their beloved Wednesday night TV show, Nashville. While there won’t be a fifth season on the alphabet network, the series may not be over yet.
The Nashville TV show follows the lives and careers of country music superstars Juliette Barnes (Hayden Panettiere) and Rayna Jaymes (Connie Britton). The rest of the cast includes Charles Esten, Clare Bowen, Eric Close, Jonathan Jackson, Chris Carmack, Lennon Stella, Sam Palladio, Maisy Stella, Will Chase, and Oliver Hudson.
Following the cancellation news, Lionsgate TV has reportedly been shopping Nashville to other channels in hopes of continuing the series for a fifth season. While the studio certainly has financial incentive to keep the show going, it may be a tough sell.
The ratings have not been very good which is why ABC dropped it. The fourth season’s been averaging a 0.96 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 4.19 million viewers. Year-to-year, that’s down by 28% in the demo and down by 19% in total viewership.
Also, while fans are currently clamouring for Nashville to continue (#BringBackNashville), many series that have been picked up by other channels have not done very well in their new homes. For whatever reason, many viewers just don’t follow their show to another channel.
But, what do you think? Would you watch a fifth season of Nashville on another channel? Do you think viewership could improve on cable or on a streaming service?
I watch the show all the time. As usual the powers that control this show are nuts..
Absolutely PLEASE !!! Find another Network for Nashville!!! I will follow the show to any station that has the good sense to briing it back!!! This show brings country music to audiences across the country.. An insight into the country music industry..With interesting and real characters..A compelling and extremely entertaining show..
You bet I would. I DVR it and watch it twice. There’s way to much crap on TV. Why would you take this off there’s so much entertainment in this show. I also buy all the music they do in the specials. And enjoy watching them also.
Nashville has open the door for the public to view new performers and songs. I cannot believe the show was cancelled! I would follow the series on any station. Such a shame the show was cancelled…you took away the only show I loved to view!
Yes, I would absolutely watch season 5 of Nashville wherever.
Yes for sure … Love the show
Yes I would definitely follow Nashville!!!!!
I would follow this show to any channel that would pick it up. Very sad that it has been cancelled. Have been a loyal watcher since the first show.
Please find a home for Nashville. We don’t need any more crime and hospital tv shows. This program was innovative and I enjoyed the different story line it offered which included great music. I can’t believe you are taking away a show with such great talent. I’m not sure how you measure your audience because I have a lot of friends who watch this program and no one ever asked any of us if we watched it. Please reconsider or find a new home for this program. Thank you.
absolutely, i loved it and am devastated that they cancelled it.
Yes would follow to a different station!!!
I would watch it anywhere it finds a home!!! Love this show!!
I would absolutely watch Nashville on another channel. I’m hoping it will be picked up by another network. It’s one of the best shows out here.
Whose idea was it to cancel this wonderful show? The most talented ensemble cast playing characters we love! Each and every performer can act and sing. The story line has kept us caring about them through all four seasons. There has got to be a Season 5…. please, someone, save this show!
Yes i will watch iT ,i love iT!
