The saga of NBC’s medical disaster series continues.
Trauma revolves around a group of brave first responder paramedics in San Francisco. The high-action series is populated by an ensemble cast that includes Derek Luke, Cliff Curtis, Anastasia Griffith, Kevin Rankin, Aimee Garcia, Billy Lush, Jamey Sheridan, and Taylor Kinney.
Back in October, NBC indicated they weren’t ordering any additional episodes of Trauma beyond the initial 13 episode order, effectively cancelling the series. Then, in the wake of the failure of The Jay Leno Show, they ordered seven more episodes to fill primetime space.
When Trauma returned to the NBC schedule after a three month hiatus, the ratings were even worse than they were back in November. If the execs weren’t happy with the ratings before, they were very likely regretting their decision to order additional installments.
According to the Futon Critic, NBC has now cut their additional episode order from seven to five installments. That brings the season total to 18 episodes.
The last episode of the season, and almost certainly the series, will air on April 26th. No word yet if the producers adapted episode 18 so that it could serve as a series finale or if viewers will be left hanging.
What do you think? Are you sorry that Trauma’s episode order has been cut? Are you holding onto hope that it will be back for season two?

Trauma would do well on the TNT Network for “Primetime in the Daytime”- NBC’s Las Vegas is still in syndication on that station, and I never watched Las Vegas until I found it on TNT, and then I loved it, but was left in the dark of how the show really was supposed to end. NBC’s Southland is also in Syndication on TNT, and is doing well. Anyone else seeing the pattern here? Bring Trauma to TNT and watch the ratings soar.
Trauma is a great show with great actors. The story line could go so many ways! I hope you give it another season. I know I would be very happy!
truama was one of my favorite shows and i am MAD that last night was the last episode it just left you hanging with Rabbit and Nancy and also i cant believe NBC would keep Mercy over Trauma! Mercy is without doubt the most boring show ever and i have seen a lot of boring things
I am soooooooooooo sad
trauma is my favorite show so far. i love this show! and i really hope it stays on!!
Why not give this excellent show some time to attract viewers. It’s not like you have anything of this quality to replace it – this is so like nbc
I love this show. I don’t have cable, so I watch it online the next morning. It’s always the first thing I watch. I really hope the network execs give this show another season. I have been watching since the first episode and when it was cancelled originally, I rewatched the first 12 (or so) episodes over and over. The characters are fantastic. It is a medical show from a different side. It’s not just doctors in an operating room, it’s got great action and drama.
Please don’t cancel this show!
I loved this show. It should definietely get another season. NBC needs to stand behind their show & give them a chance!
I absolutley love this show and all the characters. I really hope that they will come back with a season two… this show is very well written…
Me and my family Love this series, its the best new series to come along since the original CSI. Was there advertising for this show? If there was I never saw it, and like the earlier comment, when I told my friends and family about it they loved it. We stumbled across it by accident during the second show about fifteen minutes in and couldnt peel our eyes away from the action for a second. Give the show a chance! How about some advertising? The fans of the show can only do so much for you!
Trauma is a great show period and it should definitely get another season.
Honestly, I don’t understand the networks. They put shows in ridiculous time slots & expect miracles. On Mondays, you’re up against Dancing With The Stars & the final season of 24, two ginormous franchises. You can’t expect to pull 13 million viewers, & you can’t NOT count time-shift viewers who watch the show on their DVR because they were watching DWTS so they could vote for their favorites. That’s just the way ofthe world. Now, given that, you should have faith that the show is quality television drama, unlike anything else out there. So of you’re going to stick it… Read more »
WTF!!!!!!! This is BS that this show is being cancelled! This is a great show and NBC once again doesn’t see that. They finally have a good show and cancel it. What a bunch of asses! What’s going to re place in it’s spot, some lame comedy spoof show that will get worse rating and stay on for years?! Probably. BIG MISTAKE NBC. Can’t wait till TBS picks it up and it takes off and NBC is standing there with their d*cks in there hands and kicking themselves in there butts, wishing they would have never canceled it. NBC should… Read more »
First of all it is rare that a medical show can be as excellent as TRAUMA and be cancelled. Okay, so it’s up against 24, as if I care, and that might explain the ratings but a well written, well acted and extremely well executed show should never leave the fans up in the air. This show had character. The interaction between the actors was amazing, the show left you wanting more. No wonder NBC is such a pathetic network. From now on I’ll stick to FOX (House, Fringe, Lie to Me, Bones). CBS did the same thing to the… Read more »
I love this show! For someone who used to be in dispatch, tonight’s show was so true! This is how people act in the field. The only character that the show is missing is the one paramedic that believes that they are God and treats fellow employees like idiots. Everyone in EMS knows someone like this! I know these chacters would fit in any company. And yes sometimes in the field that is how dispatch is talked to. “Copy of your copy, copy.” I miss Ems and all the stories. Please keep Trauma alive!!!
I began watching “Trauma” from Day One and have never missed an ep. If it goes, I’m really going to miss it, especially since there’s so much unresolved!
