Will The Night Shift have another season? Recently, creator Gabe Sachs spoke with Deadline about the future of the NBC TV show.
The medical drama follows the emergency room night shift staff at a San Antonio hospital. The cast includes Robert Bailey Jr., Eoin Macken, Jill Flint, Brendan Fehr, Scott Wolf, Tanaya Beatty, and JR Lemon.
In the interview, Sachs said he hopes there’s a fifth season of The Night Shift since they “have a lot of stories to tell.” However, another season might be a reach. Currently, season four isn’t doing all that well in the ratings. So far, the season is earning an average rating of .70 in the 18-49 demo and 4.178 million viewers. That’s a near 30% drop in the ratings from season three.
Still, the show still has time to prove itself. The Night Shift doesn’t air its season four finale until August 31st and NBC boss Jennifer Salke says a renewal decision isn’t a concern at this moment.

Please pick this back up for a long run! Best show since ER. As NBC shows go, this is their last hope to compete with ABC and CBS. If this show goes, so do I. It will be good bye to NBC. I remember when NBC had must watch Thursday. And I did Friends, Frasier, and ER. And the other THUR. night line up. But they have lost their foot hold. They will tank if they let Night Shift end!
I love the show. NBC is not supporting it this season. No ads, as a fan, I found out it was back on air when I saw,an episode up on NBC app. Sad season this go round, too. Great stories to tell.

Seriously one of the best medical shows out there. The characters are engaging. The story lines are griping. I’ve been in the medical field for 35 years. And this show tops my list as a favorite.
