“NURSE JACKIE” TO WORK ONE LAST SHIFT
Hit SHOWTIME(R) Comedy Series’ Seventh and Final Season Will Premiere In 2015
LOS ANGELES, CA – September 10, 2014 – After six award-winning and critically-acclaimed seasons, NURSE JACKIE, the SHOWTIME hit comedy starring the extraordinary Edie Falco, will begin production this week on its seventh and final season, it was announced today by David Nevins, President, Showtime Networks Inc. The series, which premiered in 2009, instantly became one of the network’s signature series, garnering multiple awards, including several Emmy(R) Awards, a Humanitas Prize, an AFI Award for “Outstanding Television Program” and several Prism Awards for its depiction of substance abuse. It has also placed its star Edie Falco in the rare position of being the only actress to ever win the lead acting Emmy Awards in both comedy and drama, and the most nominated television performer in Screen Actors Guild Awards history. As one of the highest-rated SHOWTIME comedies, as well as the network’s top female skewing comedy, NURSE JACKIE averaged 3.4 million weekly viewers across platforms in its sixth season, once again outperforming its prior season. NURSE JACKIE is a co-production between SHOWTIME and Lionsgate.
“Edie is one of our finest actresses,” said Nevins. “We are so honored to have had her on the network. She creates indelible characters and Nurse Jackie Peyton is no exception. I know this final season will bring her story to a close that will satisfy the ever-growing number of loyal viewers who have been entranced and, at times, appalled by Jackie through the years. I want to thank Edie, the incredible cast of NURSE JACKIE and Clyde Phillips and Richie Jackson who have led the show to the success that it is today.”
“It is with great sadness and pride that we and SHOWTIME bid farewell to such an outstanding series like NURSE JACKIE, its stellar cast led by the incomparable Edie Falco, brilliant producing team led by Clyde Phillips and Richie Jackson, and the entire NURSE JACKIE family of craftspeople and artists that bring this show to rapt audiences year after year,” said Kevin Beggs, Chairman, Lionsgate Television. “We consider ourselves lucky to have been part of the NURSE JACKIE story and look forward to an unforgettable final season”
NURSE JACKIE also stars Merritt Wever in her Emmy-winning role, Paul Schulze, Dominic Fumusa, Anna Deavere Smith, Stephen Wallem, Betty Gilpin, Ruby Jerins, Mackenzie Aladjem and Peter Facinelli. Tony Shalhoub will guest star this season. Clyde Phillips serves as showrunner and executive producer. Tom Straw, Richie Jackson, Liz Flahive and Caryn Mandabach also executive produce.
Showtime Networks Inc. What do you think? Do you like Nurse Jackie? Are you sorry that the show is ending or is it the right time?
That really sucks I am extremely disappointed, I wish there was more then 7 seasons! I watched it on Netflix & I coulnt stop watching it. I’m here because I just ended the last season on Netflix and wanted to see if there was a season 8 which brought me here 🙁
This show was absolutely awesome, like what the hec am I gonna watch now, sad ending but I want more!!! Loved every single character!! I too watched all seven seasons back to back and I couldnt stop. This show just draws you into Jackie’s World!! Loved every moment of it!!!
If only there would be a season 8!!! I have enjoyed this show and can only wish for more, but it was an awesome ending either way. THANK YOU!!
I truly enjoyed all of the characters in Nurse Jackie and was heart broken by the reality of how drugs can take charge of our lives, ultimately destroying all relationships of the addict. It has a strong story line and as I watched season 7, I knew, regrettably, that it had to be its last. It was written with closure for all of the key players. Zoey’s transformation from dependence and insecurity was the direct result of her relationship with Jackie, who you loved and hated all at once because of her lies and destructive habits. It was hard to… Read more »
I’m so sad it ended I loved it idk if i can go on with tv without nurse Jackie i loved every but of it I’m so sad it’s over please come back
I love Dr. O’hara, I needed a season 8 to see more of her character. I loved all of the characters but she was my fav
Like all good series. You get hooked and end up wanting more. It is/was a good run. Do I want an 8th season yes, but then I want a 9th. Good ending to a great show. Hoping for a 8th.
I love nurse jackie please I want more !!!!!!!!!:(
I loved Nurse Jackie. Was hooked from episode 1 season 1! I binge watched on Netflix and WANT MORE! !! Great show, excellently written, insightful and well worth my time. Please reconsider and do more seasons
My husband and I watched for the first time the Nurse Jackie three days ago and thanks to the Blizzard 2016, we were able to finish the entire 7 seasons. We were hooked with the well written show… I couldn’t believe the show is over.. Thanks for the show………….!!! I loved Zoey “”” she is the best and i would love to have someone like Zoey where i work, She is sooo funny and so smart….
I don’t think ‘Nurse Jackie’ should end. It is a great story, well written and developed, perfectly cast, well done in every way. There are so many ridiculous shows that run that give television the deserved name ‘idiot tube’ and not enough intelligent shows like ‘Nurse Jackie’. I loved every character, even the ones I hated!
i watched all 7 seasons on Netflix back to back i binged watched it and i cant believe the ending i wished it would have ended better
If there was not going to be a season 8, then season 7 should have ended more concisely. Not knowing if Jackie lives or dies is a frustrating ending. I loved the show and binged watched when I could.
The ending basically shows how much of an addict she was i was actually a great ending
I need more!! This show is everything!
That sucks…
