ABC had high hopes for Off the Map, their new medical drama from veteran producers of Grey’s Anatomy and Private Practice. Unfortunately things didn’t go as planned and ABC has now cancelled Off the Map after one season on the air.
Off the Map follows the lives of six doctors who have “lost their way” and have traveled to a remote South American jungle to try to rediscover why they wanted to become physicians.
The TV series’ cast includes Caroline Dhavernas, Jason George, Jonathan Castellanos, Mamie Gummer, Martin Henderson, Rachelle Lefevre, Valerie Cruz, and Zach Gilford.
The TV series premiered to a disappointing 2.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 7.57 million viewers. The show won its timeslot but was disrupted in some parts of the country by coverage of the Tucson Memorial. As a result, ABC reran the premiere Off the Map the following night.
For whatever reason, subsequent episodes of Off the Map essentially drew fewer and fewer viewers each week. The final episode of the season hit a series low and attracted a very poor 1.3 rating in the demo with only 3.80 million viewers.
Despite having some very passionate fans, Off the Map ended up being one of the lowest dramas on ABC. It’s no surprise then that the network has now decided against ordering a second season, cancelling the show. All 13 episodes have aired and we likely won’t find out what became of the young doctors left in the jungle.

love this show.. A LOT. first and probably the last medical TV show I’ve ever loved.
Boooooooo!!! This show was great and one of the best new shows on tv!! Stupid reality tv has taken over and this is a great show that got lost in all the stupid stuff!!! Off the map was great and tv viewers will have a loss without it!!! 🙁 It should be picked up by a cable network so it can continue on!!)
We loved this show. Now that we are getting to know each character the show is cancelled. What a shame.
I was very upset when i didnt see the previews for this on abc and i has like “what the heck” so i had to see what was up and it find out it was cancled!! i was so made. I like this show so much better the grey’s and PP and i have been watching those since the start. Honsestly i am getting tiered of Grey’s. This show is the show that I first watch last couple weeks for the first time and I absolutly fall in love with this show.I sit in front of my tv every week to see this show.I was so happy everytime to know that MY SHOW IS ON.I love all characters and I was disappointed to know it was canceled .this show taught me a lot of things.I’ve never enjoy any medical show like OFF THE MAP before.trust me I got many many of knowledge every week just because I watched this show!so BRING IT BACK!
I am sad to read this show was cancelled……seems ABC is cancelling alot of good shows latley. Just because they dont get enough viewers right off the start doesnt mean that its not good, they need to give it another shot for season 2. Kinda getting tired of networks telling me what is good and what is not……ABC used to be my favorite network, guess I wont be watching them to much anymore.
My husband & I loved “Off the Map”. It was the only show that he would sit & watch with me. Very disappointed that it was cancelled. Many people at the hospital I work with are upset also. Bring it back.

My parents would record the show and we would watch it every week on Friday. I was way excited to see it, since I want to be a Forensic Pathologist. I was also glad to see Rachelle, especially after she was released from the part of Victoria in Eclipse. I was looking forward to the second season, and when my parents told me it was canceled, I was very disappointed. PLEASE BRING OFF THE MAP BACK, ABC!!!! There are viewers who would be ETERNALLY GRATEFUL for the return!!!
I’m disappointed I was very into the show and so was my family I never missed an episode and it really sucks not knowing what happens next

They can’t just cancel off the map like they had 3.8 million viewers at the end off last season an just because they got a rating of 1.3 does not mean that they can cancel it, real people actually care about the tv show and those stupid critics watch one episode and hate it. Honestly I think they should get random people to watch so that the decision I made off of people that actually care other then people who end up seeing a bunch of different shows.
So disappointed about Off the Map 🙁 the characters were interesting, maybe next time talk to us about how we feel about drug related characters. Sorry to see this one go.
