Although the Outlander TV show dropped in the 18-49 year old viewer demographic in season two, the total audience actually grew by nearly five percent. Because premium cable networks rely on paid subscribers — rather than ad revenue — audience growth is more important than a show’s demo numbers. Starz was quick to respond to that growth and renewed Outlander through its fourth season, back in June of 2016. Can it build on its success? Will Outlander be cancelled or renewed for more seasons on Starz? Stay tuned.
A time travel drama, Outlander, stars Caitriona Balfe as Claire Randall and Sam Heughan as Jamie Fraser. The Starz cast also includes Tobias Menzies, Duncan Lacroix, Lotte Verbeek, Laura Donnelly, Steven Cree, Grant O’Rourke, Richard Rankin, and Sophie Skelton.
Outlander, season three, is based on the third novel in Diana Gabaldon’s Outlander book series, Voyager. It picks up right after Claire (Balfe) leaves Jamie (Heughan) behind in the 18th century, and travels through the stones, back to her life in 1948. Now expecting Jamie’s baby, Claire must deal with her first husband, Frank (Menzies) and his reaction to her disappearance and return. Meanwhile, back in time, Jamie struggles with the aftermath of his doomed last stand at the Battle of Culloden, as well as the loss his soul mate. **Status update below.

What do you think? Do you like the Outlander TV show? Should this Starz TV series be cancelled or renewed beyond season four?
** 5/9/2018 status update: Starz has renewed Outlander for season five and season six. Season four will debut on a date TBD in November 2018. Details here.
As a raving fan of outlander, I’ve read the books and watch the series, I would like to see all the eventual 10+ books converted onto the screen!!! Here’s hoping for Season 10 + Novella episodes!!! Now ask whether Sam and Cait are as committed as we are!!!
A couple of months ago I changed my cable plan to lower the bill but I made sure we kept Starz. Outlander is THE ONLY reason I kept Starz. There are lots of less expensive plans but they don’t have Starz, if Outlander is dropped I will immediately be dropping Starz and going with a less expensive cable plan.
I only subscribe to Starz for The Outlander if it’s cancelled I’m canceling my subscription
The best and only reason to subscribe to Direct TV.
I love Outlander!! It is one of the best on tv right now. I have subscribed to Starz for many years and I look forward to watching Outlander for any years to come. Please do not cancel this show! There are many fans and I think you lose subscribers if you do cancel it!!!!
Don’t the statistics actually show an increase in viewers for this episode??? I will be heartbroken if subsequent seasons are not filmed. I am older than the target group, but I also pay for two subscriptions to Starz, two homes, so I or guests can watch Outlander.
Yes, by half a million. I don’t understand this chart. The season average
Last season was .22 and ep. 301 has a .31 rating and this is somehow a bad thing?
I think this schedule is wrong, as they have posted a show on 10/15. There is no episode scheduled on this date! I want Seasons 5 & 6! Both Sam and Cait say they are in for the long haul!
The reason I have Starz is in order to watch Outlander. This show is well done and hope you continue it
Outlander is the ONLY reason I subscribe to Starz. I remain hopeful Outlander will be renewed for many more seasons.
I don’t watch STARZ on my cable company because it’s cheaper via the Amazon or STARZ app. If they cancel Outlander, I close my accounts with those apps. It’s not rocket science.
Most definitely renew this series. I recently discovered the show during the spring and since then I’ve re-watched every episode in both seasons several times. The acting, sets, scenery, and story are superb. A whole new world has been discovered for me.
Absolutely for season 5 and more!!! It is an epic tale with much much more to offer!!! If you have never watched an episode , start at the beginning and hang in there.! I tried in season one and stopped but friends told me to try again. I’m so glad I did … It is one of my most favorite shows ever! And I am a huge fan of game of thrones too!!!
Outlander is such an excellent story, spanning decades of history that is the basis for our current world. It has enough followers that it approaches cult status. STARZ wouldn’t be real smart if they cancelled this epic story. The Battle of Culloden was very hard to watch, as I imagine the next couple of shows might be. But they provides the basis for what is coming. Hang in there! I LOVE this story and these characters, as well as their portrayers. And of course, the incredible Diana Gabaldon, without which none of this would have happened.
Sign it up for the entirety of the books. Best show on tv. Maybe if you lowered your prices at Starz people wouldn’t seek out more economic ways to view OUTLANDER.
Outlander, in my opinion is the best serial on TV. More and more people are getting hooked on the TV series and then going on to the books. This series should be continued until Diana ends the books’ story of Jamie and Claire. I just hope I live long enough to see them all.
