First, FOX cancelled Lone Star and then, ABC cancelled My Generation. Not wanting to be left out, NBC has now cancelled Outlaw. The Jimmy Smits series has ceased production but viewers will still be able to see the remaining episodes.
Outlaw follows a Supreme Court Justice (Smits) who decides to step down and go back to being a lawyer in order to fight injustices. The NBC series also stars Carly Pope, David Ramsey, Jesse Bradford, and Ellen Woglom.
The series debuted following the season finale of one of NBC’s biggest shows, America’s Got Talent, and could only attract moderate ratings. In its regular Friday night timeslot, Outlaw’s ratings have gone from bad to worse. This past Friday, the show hit a new low in the 18-49 demographic with a 0.9 rating and fell to just 4.10 million viewers. It was in last place in both categories.

As we previously reported, NBC shut down production last week, supposedly wanting to wait to see if viewership got better in later weeks. If that was actually the case, they didn’t wait very long. Outlaw has been cancelled and the cast and crew won’t be returning to production.
For the time being, NBC will fill the 10pm timeslot with an expanded edition of Dateline. The four remaining episodes of Outlaw will be seen on Saturday nights starting on October 16th. An episode won’t be seen on October 30th because of a previously schedule Shrek special. The last episode of Outlaw will air on November 13th.

What is wrong with NBC! Is this some religious thing?
I couldn’t believe it! I just went to remind me to watch it on my tv and I saw dateline was long, how can you cancel it after 4 episodes? I looked forward to watching it, although I wish it was on a different night. To many people go out on fridays with friends and family for them to watch it right at 9. Bring it back. I’m sure it would get better on a different time slot!
I enjoyed both lonestar and outlaw. I dont see why they cancelled either one they were both good. Outlaw was a lot like the old show Stark and i enjoyed watching that.
When are the executives going to learn about TIVO and DVR’s ? Do they not realize that people record most of the shows that they want to watch on their own time? Why dont they invent a device that can count the number of shows that are being recorded. The only people that watch tv in actual time is people that have no life, no kids and are rich enough that they can sit down and take time to watch these shows in their respective time slots. I looked forward to seeing Outlaw on Friday nights. And now it is cancelled? I can’t believe it! Jimmy Smits was awesome in the show and the show was very provocative and made you think about current society issues. NBC should not have canelled this show, instead move it to a different time period or day – whatever! What a huge mistake for NBC! Friday Night Sucks!

Outlaw was a very good show. Jimmy Smits is an outstanding actor and his supporting cast were top notch. I think it is ridiculous that you guys are cancelling good shows and leaving on rubbish.
the premise was ridiculous! It had ZERO shot of making it.
I didn’t discover this show till last week and I thought WOW!, why hadn’t I heard about it.
I enjoyed it very much and thought is was one of the better shows this season.

I think the show was really good. NBC just didn’t advertise it like they did the event which is just horrible. They should cancel that and move outlaw to it’s time.
Outlaw was just way better. I didn’t even know it was on until i was flipping through channels

OUTLAW was a very interesting show. The cast headed by Jimmy Smits were very good. NBC is so wrong in taking it off the air. They should have put it into a better time slot and then the viewers would have INCREASED. What is wrong with them?
better time slot would have helped. I’m usually in bed by the time it comes on or reading a book. I started watching it online lastweek and really liked it.
I’m so completely OVER NBC!!!!! They did the exact same thing to Studio 60. They have these jewels and they don’t know what to do with them. They SUCK!!!! I REALLY liked Outlaw and was anxious to see it each week! Grrrr..
I watched Lonestar the first week and was not impressed. It would have been a good movie but not a series.
Outlaw on the other hand was good. I do like Jimmy Smits though
