First, FOX cancelled Lone Star and then, ABC cancelled My Generation. Not wanting to be left out, NBC has now cancelled Outlaw. The Jimmy Smits series has ceased production but viewers will still be able to see the remaining episodes.
Outlaw follows a Supreme Court Justice (Smits) who decides to step down and go back to being a lawyer in order to fight injustices. The NBC series also stars Carly Pope, David Ramsey, Jesse Bradford, and Ellen Woglom.
The series debuted following the season finale of one of NBC’s biggest shows, America’s Got Talent, and could only attract moderate ratings. In its regular Friday night timeslot, Outlaw’s ratings have gone from bad to worse. This past Friday, the show hit a new low in the 18-49 demographic with a 0.9 rating and fell to just 4.10 million viewers. It was in last place in both categories.

As we previously reported, NBC shut down production last week, supposedly wanting to wait to see if viewership got better in later weeks. If that was actually the case, they didn’t wait very long. Outlaw has been cancelled and the cast and crew won’t be returning to production.
For the time being, NBC will fill the 10pm timeslot with an expanded edition of Dateline. The four remaining episodes of Outlaw will be seen on Saturday nights starting on October 16th. An episode won’t be seen on October 30th because of a previously schedule Shrek special. The last episode of Outlaw will air on November 13th.

I too am really disappointed in the decision to cut off the series. I thought it to be one of the best new shows of the year. I’ve been searching for new episodes on demand only to find it totally removed, what a disappointment. If they weren’t happy with the ratings on a Friday night, then maybe they should’ve tried a different time slop. NBC you really dropped the ball on this one. I hope CBS OR TNT or any other of your competitors picks it up.
Unbelievable Smits has had two great shows cane and now outlaw both met the same rediculous fate maybe nbc can find another stupid reality show. Good luck to the whole crew of outlaw you all were superb!
I knew it would only be a matter of time until it was cancelled because it was a decent show. I told my wife that it was too clean and not trashy enough. I really hope you decide to put it back on the air.
This was one of the best shows on television. However, I never liked the time slot living in the eastern time zone. The show should have aired at 9:00 pm. I hope the brain power at NBC changes their mind and we once again will see OUTLAW.
By the way, NBC, I am 48 year old male, with a fair amount of disposable income.
Really stupid decision on NBC’s part. Pretty soon all we’ll be able to watch on TV are endless dumb reality shows. It just gets worse & worse.
I thought outlaw was a very good show. Both the story lines & actors were believable. It was the “only” show i watch on “NBC” . I guess this being cancelled explains why i dont watch any other shows on that network. Prob. was going up against “Blue Bloods”.
NBC you guys suck. I cant believe that 4.1 millions viewers isnt enough to keep a show on the air. is it greed or what. you networks are ruining TV. people are spoild by the stupied reality shows. Get rid of the reality shows and the shows like Outlaw can exist.
Very upset that Outlaw have been cancelled, I thought it was a great show Jimmy Smits and the rest of the crew made the show worth watching, first Cane, now Outlaw,very very upset
I am so unhappy that this series has been cancelled. I thought it was one of the better series on TV. As opposed to Blue Bloods which I found much to dark and slow moving. I hope they re-consider on this one.

Extremely upset to see Outlaw of the air. I believe it didn’t make it because of the day it was on. If it was on a weeknight, I believe it would have made it. I think NBC has some issues, it’s not the first time they have cancelled a show without giving it any time.
I’m so sorry this program was canceled, I looked forward to seeing it every week. This was the most enjoyable new comer I’ve seen in a long time. What is NBC thinking? A good respectable program gets canceled, I just don’t understand. It surely will be missed.
I cannot believe you cancelled one of the best shows this season. Jimmy Smit and his companions on this production are excellent. I looked forward to watching the show every week. I think I start boycotting NBC..unbelievable..
Outlaw was a great show and I hate they cancelled it. Cane (w Jimmy Smits), The Unit, Trauma, etc. were all cancelled. All that exists now are mostly stupid shows on regular tv. What happened to great sitcoms? They don’t exist anymore…the Jamie Foxx Show, Friends, The 70’s Show, Seinfeld and let’s not even go farther back to the Cosby Show or a Different World.
Regular TV is on a downward spiral. Sad!
I am very upset Outlaw was cancelled. I have been looking for it and just now found out it was off the air. This was one of my favorite new TV shows. Thought Smits and rest of cast were fantastic. Loved it. Maybe if it was on during the week, more people would have watched it. Upset, upset, upset!!!!!!!
